I can still remember driving over the Blue Ridge listening to Blue Ridge Mountains for the first time. They've just gotten better and better over the years.
I remember sitting on an airplane at Narita airport in 2008 sad to be ending a holiday in Japan while checking out the audio available. Blue Ridge Mountains by a band called Fleet Foxes looked interesting. It's still my favorite song of theirs.
Weirdly enough for me it was listening to Blue Ridge Mountains while playing Versus mode in Left 4 Dead on Xbox Live. That and using that whole album as a soundtrack while reading _Blankets,_ which I found in my high school library.
My girlfriend suffers anxiety and depression, and this song really helped me understand her better. What she goes through in her head on a daily basis; walls she's built; the difficulty she has trusting others; her struggle to accept my love and affection. We're in a really good place now, but it's taken real patience and understanding

this video is a fantastic work of art in it's own right. The music combined with the video gives me such goose bumps because I think anyone who has been in a relationship can really relate to it. Especially in these "covid" times when many are stuck (trapped) at home with partners co-existing but maybe for some in way distanced on a communicative and emotional and physical level. To me it shows the struggle every day..very moving and very beautiful...
