Some in the natural (curly) hair community think if there's no heat, ends split less. Curly hair is very dry at the ends and requires trimming like any other style. Obviously, her ends were damaged and needed cutting, maybe even another half inch. Hopefully she can see that and do the upkeep...whatever the style.

I knew dead ends play a huge part in how your hair looks, but I never realized just HOW MUCH it played. Watching this, I saw nothing that looked like “silk pressed” hair, it was straight as hell, but stiff and lifeless.
Then you cut her ends, and BOOM.
Her hair sprang into life, there was so much body and movement to her hair, it looked a million times healthier and softer.
I dust my ends regularly, and trim whenever I find a dusting to just not be enough, so I don’t tend to notice how much of a difference dead being cut off truly makes.
So glad this was suggested to me.

I know these comments are from a while ago but i wanted to just share this. My hair had the same damaged ends. I hadn't used heat and didn't get a trim in years and so the ends got tangled and damaged on their own. Trying to detangle at home and being a lil aggressive made it worse. My hair is soft but curly, soft curls basically. And i still had a hard time dealing with my hair. The damage ended up spreading upwards and i HAD to cut it short and the difference was unbelievably amazing. And now my hair is long again and super healthy. So i can imagine what this client's damage seemed like and why the hairdresser had to cut it short to match the rest of the hair because the extent of damage varies across the length of the hair. For example the sides could be more damaged because of her pillow's friction with her hair if she sleeps on her side. In my case it was the back of my head because i sleep on my back. But i had to cut the sides beyond the damage to match it with the back. Who knew hair gets damaged even when left alone 😅

@@alaa.h.m.1996 yes I’m totally aware of all those things! I chopped a lot off last year. From mid back length to about 5 inches of hair. My hair was colored but in great shape then I moved from the northeast to Florida where it’s constantly humid and the water is super harsh and sulfuric and it’s customary to have a water softener in your home. My colored coily hair hated it and still does. It’s been 3 years and I’m still learning new ways to manage my hair. Seems like a constant learning game, super annoying!

Wow! What an amazing transformation! 😍 Vids like these really help to offer perspective for those who don't have any clue what it takes to maintain/style 4c hair.
I'm on the opposite side with unmanageable baby fine hair that won't hold a curl for anything, is constantly full of static, and tangles from the smallest wind shift of someone walking by.
I always considered my hair type to be the most difficult to live with, and have always been a bit envious of being able to style black hair and it will stay that way for a week or more, that seems so easy and satisfying! But I never really looked into or considered exactly what it takes to get to that point in between each styling. 😬
I suppose most hair types come with their own set of challenges.
