sad part is you know the first original season of sailor moon was produced in 6 months? The whole thing, writing, animating, music composure, character design and development.. 6 fucking months LOL. That's why the background work has such a uniquely sketch style--- it was done as quickly as possible. That is ALSO why they reused transformations and attacks. The first season had such a low budget instead of having a full year to do a season, they only had half a budget. Bandai toys was funding it and said the future of the show depending not on ratings but toy sales. The first season in Japan was almost yanked from the air half way through not because of the low ratings but because the toys were not moving on the shelves. The Moon Stick was released that Xmas and it literally saved the whole show. Long story short, there are no damn excuse as to why Crystal's production value was so low because Toei can work on the budget of a toaster if they need to considering how they knocked it out of the park the first time they did Sailor Moon.
if anyone needs an excuse for why Sailor Moon/any magical girl anime's transformations take so long, here's a reason I think makes the most sense while they transform, time freezes for the transformation, giving them time to quickly transform and get into battle
Nice theory... But if that were the case, how could anyone witness the transformation if time was frozen? A lot of Sailor Moon's enemies have seen her transform (gasp) lol.

If I ever got to take a trip to Japan, I would buy a genuine school uniform and bring it home as proof of the trip.
