How To Unclog a Kitchen Sink Drain (Fast and Cheap Method)

  • In today’s video we’re going to show you a cheap, natural alternative to unclog your kitchen sink.
Whenever you’re washing dishes and start noticing that water in the sink is backing up, that means that the drain is probably clogged. This problem will most likely end up happening to someone who isn’t careful and doesn’t take the most basic precautions.
Most of the time, the back up happens due to a build up of fat in the pipes. When we rinse fat down the drain it’s normally liquid, but ends up congealing and blocking pipes.
Pieces of food and vegetable or fruit peel can also pile up where the pipes curve and keep the water from flowing.
So what do you do when this happens? Do you call a plumber? Do you buy a chemical product to unclog your sink?
Most people probably don’t know that these product contain harmful substances that can cause skin irritations and breathing problems.
Do you have any other tips for unclogging sink drains? Tell us about them in the comment section!

It worked!! I mix salt, vinegar and lots of baking soda. Pour all into the sink, add in the boiled water, and let the clogged water drain for about an hour. It's like a magic effect after, no more clog at all! Tq so much!!!

This remedy worked. I had to add the dish detergent to my water because it was not working at first. I had to repeat this process 3 times. After about an hour or so it started to work. I really appreciate this video.

    1. Run hot water down the drain
    2. Add 1 cup of baking soda and allow it to sit for 10 mins
    3. Add 1 cup of vinegar (this will cause a chemical reaction that will clear out the blockage)
    4. Run hot water again and voila!

My double kitchen sinks have been clogged a few days. They were EXTREMELY slow to drain. It took almost 30 minutes for them to drain after doing dishes. I tried Liquid Plumr Clog Destroyer 3 times between yesterday and today. STILL CLOGGED. I tried the salt down the drains (1 cup each drain) with a very large pasta pot of boiling water with 1 cup of dish liquid added after I turned off the stove. Poured slowly in each drain. UNCLOGGED! I can hear the echoing of the water swooshing in the pipes below! I haven't heard that SWOOSHING sound in the pipes for months.

Okay...THANK GOD FOR THIS VIDEO, THANK YOu THANK YOU THANK YOU....i was afraid of telling the landlord yet again that I have a drained kitchen clog, last time it overflowed to the floors below mine...The trick with salt and hot water worked for me...BUT the real trick is adding HUUUGE AMOUNT OF SALT.....LIKE 5 TO 6 CUPS....try it lads...it will work for sure, all that salt will just push any clogged stuff out of the way, its heavier than water so it just works by pushing it plus the scraping effect, thank you for this!

Try using one of those extra long, sturdy wooden matchsticks (10 to 12 inches long), that are typically used to light a fireplace. It is thin and sturdy enough to get down in there and break up and dislodge whatever is backing up the drain. Worked well for me. Careful not to break the matchstick - take your time and poke away.

The P-trap under the sink is so easy to remove using your only bare hands. Just turn the inlet counter clockwise but you must put under the sink a catch basin to catch all yucky drain debris. And if your ptrap have the clean out plug loosen it up then all causes of clogging will drain out.
