- अमृतसर में गोल्डन टेंपल है. गोल्डन टेंपल के ठीक पास है जलियांवाला बाग. जहां अक्सर लोग जुटते, मिलते. बतियाते. बच्चे खेलने भी पहुंच जाते. कई बार मीटिंग्स भी की जाती.
साल 1919 में बैसाखी 13 अप्रैल को थी. पंजाब समेत देश के अलग-अलग हिस्सों से लोग अमृतसर पहुंचे थे. अमृतसर में एक दिन पहले ही अंग्रेजी हुकुमत ने कर्फ्यू लगा दिया. ऐलान किया गया कि लोग इकट्ठा नहीं हो सकते. फिर आती है बैसाखी की सुबह. गोल्डन टेंपल में दर्शन के बाद धीरे-धीरे लोग जलियांवाला बाग में जुटने लगे. कुछ वक्त में हजारों की भीड़ इकट्ठा हो चुकी थी.

UK Foreign Office minister Mark Field told a debate on "Jallianwala Bagh massacre" at Westminster Hall in the House of Commons complex that while it was important to draw a line under the past over the "shameful episode" in history, repeatedly issuing apologies for events related to the British Raj came with their own problems.
"I have slightly orthodox views on Britain's colonial past. I feel little reluctant to make apologies for things that have happened in the past," the minister said.

sir, kindly rectify the information as i read some where that Sardar Udham Singh ji killed Mickal Odhwire on 13th march 1940, who was the Governer of Punjab at the time of this brutal act and given order to General R C Dyer to go jaliawalan bagh. General Dyer died with paralysis and illness in 1927.

Colonel Reginald Edward Harry Dyer he was responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar . He died of his natural death on 24 July 1927 (aged 62)
but Sir Michael Francis O'Dwyer was Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab in India from 1912 until 1919. In 1940, aged 75, he was assassinated by Udham Singh.
