Just to be precise, as per ArrayList implementation,
newCapacity = OldCapacity + OldCapacity>>1 (right shifting of the number) which turns out to be around 1.49-1.5 times the oldValue
new capacities are -> 10,15,22,33,49,73 and so on
Up to JDK 6 the the capacity grow with formula newCapacity = (oldCapacity * 3/2) + 1.
In JDK 7 and above the formula changes to newCapacity = oldCapacity + (oldCapacity >> 1).

The explaination is vey clear, i had a doubt.how can we add int(primitives) to arraylist(or any collection). you have told in the previous class that we can add only objects to collections and not the primitives. plese clear my doubt
+BHARATH RAJ whenever you add primitive to Collection classes, it internally convert Primitive to its equivalent object type. like int to Integer and so on.

How does ArrayList Store the heterogeneous objects? As we mention the type of object while initializing ArrayList-

new capacity=initial capacity*3/2+1 (1) nc=(10*3/2)+1=16 (2) nc=(16*3/2)+1=25

Sir, if we remove 1st position element in the ArrayList then why that position can't be null as you said earlier in the video. What is the necessity of shifting next position elements to one position forward?

Having a doubt. Collection is used to store group of objects as a single entity. Here string is object but 10 whic we are storing is int which is primitive data type and collection can't hold primitive type. Then how this example works ..Will anyone explain pls??
