    I owned one of these 30 years ago and loved it . I have many crawlers and bashers and am just now starting my nostalgic tamiya collection. I have a grasshopper, blackfoot and am just putting finishing touches on a lunchbox. I believe you have convinced me the wildone is next. Thanks for the great video 👍

      Oh yeah you have to have a nostalgic Tamiya collection! I think that the Wild One is great out of the box and doesn't need too many mods. I did do a couple of build overview vids that outline what I did change. Tamiya need to pay me commission for these kits I'm encouraging people to buy 😁 Hope you enjoy it when you get it and many thanks for watching 😁👍

    Awesome footage as always Pete! 👌
    Jesus, that Wild One took that power and everything you could throw at it with ease matey!
    She looked right at home on the wet sand.... and the wet sea for that matter, thought you were going to re create that famous James Bond lotus scene for a minuit then! 🤣
    Superb running footage, great vintage buggy, gorgeous scenery and the usual Pete wylie humour that we have come to expect.....
    Oh my-
    Has a vintage brushless two wheel drive buggy just made the entire 'fifty thousand million trillion' turn motor crawling scene totally obsolete? 🤔 😉 🤣 😂
    Brilliant! 🙏

      Hi there. Yeah this doesn't feel too overpowered with the brushless set. Also it's pretty tough compared to some of those old Tamiyas. Ha, I didn't quite mean for it to go in the sea but it made for a good shot. Oh yes I think that all the crawler chaps will be binning their expensive slow RC's for 2wd open diff buggies from the 80s once they see this 😂 Thank you as ever for your kind comments. Always much appreciated. Best wishes to you 😁👍

    Hi there Pete, I hope that you’re keeping well. The awesome WildOne with the typical Pete Wylie super fast system, proved to be a big hit down at the beach. I so wish I could have been there with you, and a WildOne is one of those RC that is on my ever increasing wish list. 😊😊best wishes to you all.

I must warn you that I am a bit of a hooligan though 😂 Anyway, yes you need one of these in your collection for sure. A Tamiya classic and one that is proper fun and quite tough. Many thanks indeed for watching my friend. Best wishes to you and yours 😁👍

    The wild ne is simply AWESOME, Jack of all trades I will be darned it does everything! and it's a super jumper too!! Maybe you can get some better steering from it I think you can take one of those spacers on top of the front springs out and it should soften it up front and give more on power steering. Super awesome video mate!

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya Steve. Yeah this thing must be one of the best of the 80s Tamiyas and still more fun than some of the modern ones. I will have a look at the suspension. I've still got the Blockhead version to build so I'll be rewatching your top tips guide to remind myself of those little mods. Many thanks for watching and your great feedback my friend. I am glad you thoroughly tested on all the various surfaces to ensure it was the proper amount of fun in all areas! I do love taking a car to the beach and running it around! The damp sand is always a blast and making all the tire marks in the sand is a lot of fun too. Thanks for taking us along on the fun outing with it! I love watching them sling sand all over!! I have to figure out what is going to be my beach build this year...

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya Addam. Oh yeah I did have the appropriate amount of fun on all the surfaces. The beach is great fun like you say but I only run the very simple 2wd cars because that sand gets in everywhere and I don't want the cleanup to be too much of a pain. Ooh I can't remember which kits you haven't done already to suggest one for your beach build. Kyosho Beetle maybe or have you done that already? Cheers for watching my friend 😁👍

    I certainly did like this video, Pete! In fact, that's a lie, I LOVED it! You got some fantastic action shots there mate. All that practice driving one-handed and tracking with the GoPro on a pole has payed off. Haha, Captain Slow gets another mention, 50 million trillion turn motor! 🤣🤣 I really enjoyed this video with the commentary, but please, please do a version of this with some music and some of that awesome footage in slomo! The shots of the Wild One drifting sideways at speed over the damp sand are too good to miss! Wishing you a lovely weekend there, matey! 😉😉😍😍👍👍

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya matey. Oh yeah you know we might have discussed this before but I find videoing and driving at the same time much easier than getting someone else to do one of the things. People never quite drive or stand where I want them to! Oh I know, poor Derek ☹️😂 I did video a lot of this at 120fps so I could slow some of it down for a short maybe. Anyway the weekend is underway and we've got an 80's tribute act to go and watch which will be good. Glad you are a bit better so hopefully you'll enjoy yours too. Best wishes my friend 😁👍

    I built a wild one specifically for the beach at Weston super mare, it’s got a velenion system out of my 2wd stampede. Probably the best beach badgers I’ve ever had, it just goes so well there.

    • @carnivorouslee

      @PeteWylieRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. Yeah I was very lucky that the Elf got me this and also the Blockhead version so I can really thrash this and keep the Blockhead more pristine. It really is a great beach basher (or badger 😂) and does benefit from the fast brushless set. Glad you are enjoying yours too. Many thanks for your great feedback 😁👍

    • @carnivorouslee
      @carnivorouslee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeteWylieRC no worries, it’s always a pleasure to watch your videos! I originally had the velenion system in a grasshopper, and that was a absolute hoot to drive on the beach with a small 3s pack, I was going to move it over to a hopper 2 but I saw a video of some guy with a wild one on the beach and thought that’s the way to go! The blockhead looks very nice but I’ve no room left for shelfers.

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh goodness, 3s in a hopper! I had 2s in my Hornet and it was a bit much really. I still think that the Lunchbox is best overall at the beach and the sand doesn't really get into it too much. Wild One obviously handles much better 😀

    • @carnivorouslee
      @carnivorouslee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeteWylieRC I’d only use a hopper in that configuration on the beach, anywhere else and it’s far far too much! But it’s an absolute blast in the sand! I might give the lunch box a go on the beach this summer, or I might try a mad bull, best of both worlds maybe?

    Flatpacked sand? You can get anything at Ikea these days. Seems the ideal place for a kit with bushings, too... looks great fun. 😎👍

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, yeah those guys will pack anything into a flat box. I guess one advantage of plastic bushings is that they don't rust. Thing is though do they end up wearing out with the sand and then you've got a loose gear mesh? I remember that being a problem back in the day when metal bearings were an expensive luxury. Many thanks indeed for your great comments 😁👍

    Oh, yes, Pete, definitely use a good buggy like this! Almost a shame with the music, the sound was so great from the buggy, almost sounded like a Kyosho, and I mean that as a compliment, ha ha! • @PeteWylieRC

      @PeteWylieRC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hiya Barry. Yeah it is well suited to the sand. Interesting you should ask about the Turbo Scorpion as I had planned a video to compare the two. Basically the Turbo Scorpion is a bit more planted with more forgiving suspension. The blocky tyres on the Wild One are better in a lot of situations. I'll be interested to see how the Kyosho Beetle goes as that's essentially a Scorpion and it has blocky tyres. Cheers for watching mate 😁👍
