I have this rim and it is superb. The main problem the "snap dome" shifter nonsense. The problem is they lose their snap after several months. As a result I 3D printed a magnetic shifter mod to bring the snappy feeling back again. The mod can be found on Thingyverse.
The glass reinforced QR1 Lite is much better than I thought, mine at least completely removes the very slight but annoying "wobble" of the QR1, never before has a Fanatec wheel felt so solidly attached, outstanding effort. The WRC wheel is a fine wheel, I've never been one for chopping and changing my wheel, rather finding one that's comfortable and sticking with it. The WRC is very comfortable, has a reasonable selection of buttons, adequate shifter's and a useful display and Revstripe. It's very similar in quality to Thrustmaster's F488 Challenge wheel, construction is very much the same but it doesn't have as comprehensive a selection of buttons and rotary switches, broadly similar other than the shape. Pity about the tyre tread decal but that's my main complaint. The shifter's could do with a magnetic shifter mod such as is available for the F488 which would transform the feel and prevent the occasional double shift when braking hard on a bumpy track. Suits the 8Nm CSL DD, being a near perfect size & weight for this highly informative direct drive unit.
I did decide to go with a lightly used BMW rim, and I love it. However, it is a touch heavy, making it less than appropriate for offroad and drifting. I wish I would've considered the WRC more, but overall I am very happy with the choice I made.
It did cross my mind that the BMW being a good 2KG in weight compared to the WRC 1KG might contribute to less responsive force from the CSL Elite wheelbase I use but it's not like any fanatec bases are weak!

Nice reviw. Do you think you could remove the WRC and tyre tread print easily? How about the button caps, would the print come off easily? I like this rim but want it plain black with no print or patterns at all.
p1 isnt obsolete... just because you cant get it off in 0.001 seconds does not mean anything, you can pick them up on ebay for 80-150 pounds opposed to spending 200 on the wrc rim.

I just put on my Fanatec V3 pedal set (had to rebalance my motion sim because the V3's are pretty dang heavy when hanging out in the front) And now I'm looking at upgrading from my 'Driving Force (circa 2010) wheel setup. I don't need a DD, just better FFB. So looking at the same option you purchased. If you read this, how heavy is the wheelbase and WRC rim? Much heavier than your G29? I'll probably have to rebalance the rig again (which took me a few hours.. cutting, drilling, welding etc).. Thanks for posting. Your videos are great! DMAX
The CSL is about twice to three times as heavy as a G29 wheelbase! Not sure of the exact figures but the fanatec site says the wheelbase shipping weight is 6kg. The box and packaging must only be about 500g so you're left with a fairly hefty chonk!
Still loving mine, though it only counts for 10% of my CSL usage right now, it's brilliant with Dirt Rally via an Oculus Quest 2 VR, the rim material is very true to life.
@@dannyleeracing I got mine today. It does the job well! I think it will be similar for me use wise. I knew it would be £200 just so I could play Dirt occasionally so I feel happy with it. Switching back to the V2 gives me a sense of how having both can offer two very different experiences, which is awesome. Find it fun with GT4 cars as well, which is a bonus.
I've not had a P1 to hand so far so I can't say! I would guess the P1 might be a tiny bit 'skinnier' in terms of the grip but that's a pure guess, sorry!
Unfortunately I can't say from experience as I haven't used or encountered a default P1 standard rim, but I should imagine it's the same essential diameter. Sorry I can't be of more help, perhaps another person has done a video on this question
I'd say F1 has a lot more in common with real life driving skills, because real life driving is all about smoothness. If you ever find yourself driving like a rally driver on real roads then you won't live long!

There's a chance he wandered onto a regional store - Fanatec definitely ships to the US. Try going directly to fanatec.com and it should automatically detect he's in the US and shuffle him into the US store. Unless he's on a VPN that makes him appear to reside in another country.

This is true, for sure. Nothing wrong with a bargain P1 second hand, but if you're shopping new then skip it for WRC

But is it smaller than the p1? Small wheels feel extra tiny in my freakishly large hands.
