Pt. Bhat ji is the desciple of Pt Basav Raj Rajguru (blend of Kirana, Gwalior and Patiala gharaans)
In My Opinion he is one of the finest Hundustani Classical Singers in India today,
like Rashid Khan, Aswhini Bhinde Deshpande etc.
I believe recogniton does not always match the qualification, but nevertheless, he is a mastero in his own right
and has given concerts all over India and many places in USA.

I'd heard Pt. Ganapati Bhat at the Sawai Gandharwa music festival in 1987 when he was a young freshman singing at the thrid day of the festival. I was enthralled by his voice then and am enamored by his command even today. Thanks for posting this video.

pt ji is 63 now just watch his recent madhuvanti UPLOADEDat the age of 63 most of the artist wil Dspr from their performance just think of it.he is a top artst of AIR ,he is a disciple of basvraj rajguru over 25 years performed in almost all stages of india like savai gandharva(3TIMES) ,tansen samaroh(2TIME),akashvani sangeeth sammelan and overseas as well) some time , after hering rashid khan & ashwini bhide i also feel why ustad???? ,,, should not judge anyone with his one performance..

even after listening to so many artist if you are commenting so and comparing with ashwini bhide and rashid khan,,its really very bad ,not acceptable...go through his profile. please dont express in such a manner for any artist that to like ganpati ji, it shows in what forum of music you are living in...

Who is that fool who downgrade panditji comparing with Aswini bhideji and Rashid khan. Agreed that they are GREAT Artists but it is unpardonable to say that Pt. Ganapati Bhatji is lesser to them. In fact I would like to call him a MESMERISING MUSICIAN . I am trying to listen to all his renditions on youtube. Such a Great artist he who has trained under P. Basavarajguru and Pt. C R Vyas. His Guru Pt. C R Vyas praised him openly in one of his mesmerizing renditions of Kaushik ranjini (available on youtube). And who can forget his rendition of Raag Dhani (Hey manwa composed by his Guruj Pt. C R Vyas) and Raag Megh. In fact I have never heard in my life such a BEAUTIFUL Megh as rendered by Panditji. Pranaams to Panditji and feel pity for whom who tried to downgrade Panditji.
