Thanks for these great tips. Of course your artistic talent really helps in styling your beautiful home. One of the many great reasons to thrift is that you can stain/paint what you thrift to go with what is in your home.

being from California, I had to laugh when you said you can get baskets for 50 cents or a dollar or two.... Thrift stores in my area sell baskets from 3 or 4 dollars to up to $20! Most range from $6.00 to $8.00... its sad. I use to love to go thrifting , but now I leave most stuff on the shelf cause the prices have gotten ridiculous! All the joy of getting a bargain is gone
It is kind of a general statement to say families in UT are pickier so you can find whole sets of glasses. I live in OH and I've thrifted 12 antique glasses that are no longer made . . .
I love the challenge of thrifting and hunting down used items. I don't love homes that look like they only decorated with Home Goods and/or other new,trendy decor from home stores. Every home would look too much alike.
I have loved thrifting ever since I was a teenager and I’m in my late 40’s now. But, I’ve completely given it up, including FB market place, bc of the unbelievable spike in prices. I live in Palm Beach, Fl. so yes, it’s more expensive here, I get it. But that’s not it. Thrifting and buying 2nd hand has gained a lot of popularity in recent years, so people are taking full advantage and it’s just ridiculous! They’ve literally sucked the fun and excitement right out of it. I constantly see stuff on FB that is priced more expensive than if you bought it brand new. FOR USED STUFF! And same in the thrift stores. It’s just as much now as buying new. Such a bummer!

Yes!! Good old DI! And yes it’s gone up a lot! Dressers use to be $15-$25 and now $80! Yikes!! Still better than what I’d pay brand new but DANG!
