  • 12 Bhairab Naach ("Bhairava's Dance") is an ancient masked dance performed by Newa community of Nepal. It was originated in Bhaktapur and brought to Pokhara while migrating. It was brought more than 300 years ago. It is performed every 6 years in Pokhara. The raag (song) in this dance indicates that it was started at the time of last Malla King of Bhaktapur, Ranajit Malla.
    There are 12 deities in this dance, namely Bhairab, Kali (Budi Bhairab), Indrayani, Barahi, Kumari, Bishnuvi (Vaishnavi), Bramhayani (Brahmani), Maheswori(Gangaju) and Ganesh, Dagini (Dakini), Kwangcha & Bhuccha. Bhairab leads and conducts the dance.
