All of you commenting and complaining about this have probably never been through a CS chamber so let me explain, as I have to go through this annually: CS gas is a type of tear gas that painfully irritates anything it comes into contact with, i.e. the eyes, skin, and throat. EVERY male soldier in South Korea goes through this chamber (sometimes annually) as well as EVERY US soldier. The government pays millions of dollars for its soldiers, so I assure you that they would not expose them to this gas if it were lethal. You would have to be exposed to it for 20 minutes or more in order to start experiencing real side effects. The exposure is usually less than a couple minutes and the point of the training is to be able to walk into the chamber and stand there. Then remove the canister on the mask (which lets the gas into your mask). Breathe the gas for a few seconds. Then place the canister back onto the mask and leave the chamber. The purpose is for the soldiers to experience the pain of a gas attack, and be able to think calmly and clearly enough to complete all the tasks as being able to do so will save their lives in the event of a real attack. Hyeri is just panicking. Breathing the gas is definitely painful and makes it really difficult. But I assure you panicking doesn't help. Your breathing rate goes up, which means you inhale even more gas which causes you to panic more. Which is what happened to her. She just needed to calm herself and her breathing, grit her teeth and bear it for less than a minute. Secondly, military training is hard. Many times your mind will want to quit but someone will have to push you through it to make you realize that you're capable of more. That's why they restrained her. Her mind was panicking and screaming for her to quit, but the instructors were trying to force her to grit her teeth and bear it. Sure these girls aren't real soldiers, I got that. But when they signed up to do the show, they should have well known the hardships they would have to endure; quite honestly it's much worse in the real military when there are no cameras around. Lastly, to say that they are JUST GIRLS is a total disrespect to all the tough ass women I serve with on a daily basis as well as a total disrespect to the girls in this show. I completely respect Hyeri and the other girls (even in the 2nd season) that went into this chamber because it DOES suck really bad but they still did it and gave it their all.

Kelly Vivien and it's easy you suck up the discomfort for a few minutes and you know what your done it over nobody ever dies doing this in the history of the US Military infact it's one of the easiest certifications out there for the Military you go in room and hang out for a few minutes and then your done.
Let me share my view on this video as a korean guy..... This may be disturbing to watch for those youtubers from peaceful countries. Even for me, it's hard to watch these women and girls of our country suffer.However, point of this tv show is to show korean citizens that some REAL part of training so they can appreciate them.Everyday, there are thounds of young korean males (around hyeri's age) suffer same amount of pain as what hyeri is feeling in this video.This might be too tough training for idols and actors. However, they endured as much as they could and i really feel proud of them.If there were no war between North and South, our young soldiers woudln't have to go through this kind of painful moments.There is no fault for trainers and TV directors because they are doing what they are supposed to do.
Peaceful country??? To me there is no such thing as a peaceful country. No matter where we live in this world we all can come under attack at any time. It was hard watching them go through it but I understand that it had to be done.
Your correct despite the fact that this is television show it does involve actual ROK Army personnel and these girls are actually going through the legit basic training for the Army. So the instructors are going to be as realistic as they can go because there is a real possibility that the next time they need to use these skills it might just be the real thing. Unlike the United States ROK does things by largely a conscripted basis were you are required to serve an x amount of years in the military.

Thats panic attack, i think... I have claustrophobia.. So i experience it when im in an enclosed space... First thing you feel is an increased heart rate.. Then difficulty in breathing..i also feel very warm. ..i guess wearing the mask and knowing that they might be exposed to harmful gas triggered the panic attack..
I get that the training *is important, and I AGREE that experiencing it MAY be a good thing* if war reallly comes BUT, Hyeri was literally screaming and begging and panicking so much, IMO it wasn't *right* for them to restrain her so thoroughly. What if, just *what if* (there's probably a very slim chance but it still exists) that she was dying or something??? So I was genuinely worried and scared for her, and for every person who has to go through this. I really respect every one who goes through the gas chamber, be it people in Real Men or just normal citizens, becuse I definitely wouldn't even dare to go in
@@wannableishere1156 the military abides by the 'you learn by your mistakes' doctrine. They restrained them from getting outside so that they would know what happens when you dont apply proper breathing techniques in these kinds of situations. They were even lucky to have been just left outside, if it was real training - they would drag them back to the chamber and retest them again. Imo the military did not do anything wrong in this situation.
I want to enter the screen and save Hyeri when i watched this. After watching her cheerfully do things and carefree eating moments, it's painful to suddenly see her suffer 😢

Also, a lot of comments here are saying that the gas is very dangerous, but in CBR training, the gas used is harmless to the body. Hyeri's mask wasn't put on properly and that was why she was eager to get out, not because the gas is harmful. And this IS a show, if it was in reality, the soldiers there would not have let her gotten out for sure.

I understand K-pop fans mostly consist of pre pubescent teens so it's easy for them to cry at something they find disturbing or don't understand. Maybe when they grow up, they will learn the importance of these training or why they show it.
I've personally been through this training and it was tough to get adjusted at first, made it through in the end. There are 3 stages: 1: change canister. (what you see now) 2: basic exercises (star jump, jogging on the spot e.t.c.) 3: Mask off and identify yourself before leaving the chamber. The trick to this is to relax and take your time to do it properly. Your breathing increases when you panic.
For those saying she’s weak and all that shit no that’s not it. From the get go the mask wasn’t on properly bc she has a skinny neck so it wasn’t fastened tightly so the entire time she was breathing in the gas and she tried her best to keep composure even as far as taking the lid off which takes a lot of strength and courage considering she was already feeling the effects the moment she stepped in. The girl from group 1 before they went in had a similar experience but she couldn’t take it the first 5 seconds and forced her way out unlike hyeri who had time to take off the lid and try to take it all in. But she’s a singer she panicked and thought her throat was being damaged. So please don’t call her weak
When panic sets in, your body stats to work harder, your heart-rate and breathing get faster as your body tries to get more oxygen in readying it for a fight or flight situation. So the unfortunate result is breathing in more and more gas as your body searches for air, and as more gas causes more pain and more panic, more suffering ensues. You can see that she tried her best to endure it, the first scream should have been an indicator of 'enough,' when the guy grabbed her it just made everything worse. i think having ppl restrain ppl from leaving was unnecessary.
It's realistic, that's what happens to everyone who gets drafted to the military, CS gas isn't deadly only if you have health issues then you are exempted from it or the military at all, some people aren't even affected by CS gas, you're just over exaggerating.
you appear to be suggesting that as long as it's not deadly, it's okay - but my point six months ago was about unnecessary suffering. even the ppl that volunteer to be waterboarded (so that they may experience it) have the chance to say "no more" with safety words and devices - and the moment the safety is triggered the activity is ceased because after that, there is little more to be gained for the volunteering party. the one who administers the procedure doesn't make assumptions on the tolerance of each different subject and say "oh no, this other guy endured it for longer, u can go for more." Despite efforts to make it as "real" as possible, they aren't really conscripts, they're military tourists. and although the cbr is a necessary military exercise, with the soldiers intervening to restrain them, it seemed more like a hazing. also, since posting this ages ago i've asked a relative and some friends who've undergone army and police riot training, on whether or not door blocker soldiers were a thing in cbr, and the collective response was along the lines of "nope, not really."

Well these soldiers have been in that chamber many times and it's not harmful to your health, just extremely uncomfortable to some people. It wasn't really nice to laugh but it would be different if it was a deadly situation and they were laughing.

I know it must look unsafe, but it's not. The gas used is chlorobenzylidene malonitrile which is non-lethal. It does have effects such as coughing, burning eyes and possibly burning skin, but it's not life-threatening or dangerous. Police are known to use it for crowd control. :)

I went on a trip to a marine base for a week in my freshmen year of high school. One day we had to go through the gas chamber just like these girls but we only walked quickly through it. IM SO PROUD OF THEM!
In Korea males are conscripted to join for two years time frame. Women it's optional so I don't feel bad at they volunteered this is the going price and it's not hard either it's easy as pie you go in that room hang out for a few minutes take off your mask say your name rank and your done easy day just got embrace a little discomfort.

저도 조교였는데 농도에 따라 다릅니다 . 초반에 보통 농도 약하게 하고 반응보고 농도 좀 더 짙게 합니다. 날씨 습도 온도에 영향이 달라서 첨부터 쎄게 못해요 약한농도에서는 저 반응이 지극히 평범합니다
저때 혜리가 코 나오고 침 나오는거 안 보여주려고 계속 피해다녔다는데 눈치없이 카메라맨이 계속 찍었다고 했음 (일부러 그런거 같다만).

Your correct despite the fact that this is television show it does involve actual ROK Army personnel and these girls are actually going through the legit basic training for the Army. So the instructors are going to be as realistic as they can go because there is a real possibility that the next time they need to use these skills it might just be the real thing. Unlike the United States ROK does things by largely a conscripted basis were you are required to serve an x amount of years in the military.

Thats panic attack, i think... I have claustrophobia.. So i experience it when im in an enclosed space... First thing you feel is an increased heart rate.. Then difficulty in breathing..i also feel very warm. ..i guess wearing the mask and knowing that they might be exposed to harmful gas triggered the panic attack..
I get that the training *is important, and I AGREE that experiencing it MAY be a good thing* if war reallly comes BUT, Hyeri was literally screaming and begging and panicking so much, IMO it wasn't *right* for them to restrain her so thoroughly. What if, just *what if* (there's probably a very slim chance but it still exists) that she was dying or something??? So I was genuinely worried and scared for her, and for every person who has to go through this. I really respect every one who goes through the gas chamber, be it people in Real Men or just normal citizens, becuse I definitely wouldn't even dare to go in

They restrained them from getting outside so that they would know what happens when you dont apply proper breathing techniques in these kinds of situations. They were even lucky to have been just left outside, if it was real training - they would drag them back to the chamber and retest them again. Imo the military did not do anything wrong in this situation.

요즘에는 다 쓴 채로 정화통만 분리한 다음 10초 버티고 다시 끼운뒤에 나오는 것으로 바뀌었습니다.

omg do you know how stupid we look? Hyeri, as well as other members knew of this gas chamber beforehand. Also, a lot of comments here are saying that the gas is very dangerous, but in CBR training, the gas used is harmless to the body. Hyeri's mask wasn't put on properly and that was why she was eager to get out, not because the gas is harmful. And this IS a show, if it was in reality, the soldiers there would not have let her gotten out for sure.

I've personally been through this training and it was tough to get adjusted at first, made it through in the end. There are 3 stages:
1: change canister. (what you see now)
2: basic exercises (star jump, jogging on the spot e.t.c.)
3: Mask off and identify yourself before leaving the chamber.
The trick to this is to relax and take your time to do it properly. Your breathing increases when you panic.

For those saying she’s weak and all that shit no that’s not it. From the get go the mask wasn’t on properly bc she has a skinny neck so it wasn’t fastened tightly so the entire time she was breathing in the gas and she tried her best to keep composure even as far as taking the lid off which takes a lot of strength and courage considering she was already feeling the effects the moment she stepped in. The girl from group 1 before they went in had a similar experience but she couldn’t take it the first 5 seconds and forced her way out unlike hyeri who had time to take off the lid and try to take it all in. But she’s a singer she panicked and thought her throat was being damaged. So please don’t call her weak
When panic sets in, your body stats to work harder, your heart-rate and breathing get faster as your body tries to get more oxygen in readying it for a fight or flight situation. So the unfortunate result is breathing in more and more gas as your body searches for air, and as more gas causes more pain and more panic, more suffering ensues.
You can see that she tried her best to endure it, the first scream should have been an indicator of 'enough,' when the guy grabbed her it just made everything worse. i think having ppl restrain ppl from leaving was unnecessary.
It's realistic, that's what happens to everyone who gets drafted to the military, CS gas isn't deadly only if you have health issues then you are exempted from it or the military at all, some people aren't even affected by CS gas, you're just over exaggerating.
you appear to be suggesting that as long as it's not deadly, it's okay - but my point six months ago was about unnecessary suffering. even the ppl that volunteer to be waterboarded (so that they may experience it) have the chance to say "no more" with safety words and devices - and the moment the safety is triggered the activity is ceased because after that, there is little more to be gained for the volunteering party. the one who administers the procedure doesn't make assumptions on the tolerance of each different subject and say "oh no, this other guy endured it for longer, u can go for more."
Despite efforts to make it as "real" as possible, they aren't really conscripts, they're military tourists. and although the cbr is a necessary military exercise, with the soldiers intervening to restrain them, it seemed more like a hazing.
also, since posting this ages ago i've asked a relative and some friends who've undergone army and police riot training, on whether or not door blocker soldiers were a thing in cbr, and the collective response was along the lines of "nope, not really."

I think Hyeri mask wasn't properly fixed in and I'm surprised she stayed in there longer. Gas can really damage people and I was scared/worried :(
They were told to take the filters off whilst they were in there anyway. It's not supposed to be an easy exercise. :)
But she the WHOLE time hers wasn't properly in, so she was losing more oxygen than everybody else who still has there on for a little longer, which was difficult for her.
I know it must look unsafe, but it's not. The gas used is chlorobenzylidene malonitrile which is non-lethal. It does have effects such as coughing, burning eyes and possibly burning skin, but it's not life-threatening or dangerous. Police are known to use it for crowd control. :)

In Korea males are conscripted to join for two years time frame. Women it's optional so I don't feel bad at they volunteered this is the going price and it's not hard either it's easy as pie you go in that room hang out for a few minutes take off your mask say your name rank and your done easy day just got embrace a little discomfort.
