Thanks for putting up with my annoying questions! I’m seriously tempted to pick this up. I love epic scale. I can see it’d be a lot of fun to recreate scenes from films and such.
Happy New Year! Great little battle! It's nice to learn the rules along with you and this size game makes it much easier to pick up and understand. I look forward to more American Civil War games and videos on the channel. I am trying to decide between the epic scale (Warlord Games, Kallistra) and 28mm (Perry Miniatures, Steve Barber Models). I like the massed ranks you get with the epic scale but I also like the historical details you get with the 28mm. In terms of putting a regiment or brigade of them together and painting them up, is one easier than the other, or are they about the same because you have all the details with the 28s but hundreds of figures with the epics? Regarding seeing the elephant, do you find this happens more with the epics because you have those massed ranks exemplary of the Black Powder era, or do you find the 28s are better because they have more detail? I am also trying to settle on a rules set. Black Powder: Glory Hallelujah! seems to be pretty straight forward and easy to pick up. Do you know how it compares to other ACW rules (e.g. Across A Deadly Field, Pickett's Charge, Fire & Fury) or is this the only rules set you use?
The bigger you want to go in number of units, the faster a set of rules you are going to need. I like Black Powder for its simplicity. Unless you want to play the same battle over several real time days, you are going to need fast rules. As to miniature scale, the smaller ones are definitely faster to paint. Again, if you want to get a lot of units on the table I would go for epic ones.
yes yes YES !!! .... finally some Black powder ACW, and a great game of the kind, if I may say so ... 👍 PLEASE... make many more Black powder ACW and/or Black seas battle report's ...Most sadly and for unknown reasons, are there not many of these on youtube 😢 A little question, that table you guy's always play on, how big is it ?? 4 feet x 4 feet (120x120 cm) or ?? Many thanks for showing and please keep up the good work 👍👍
Yeah the table is only 4x4. We play smaller games because we largely enjoy smaller game more. Once a game lasts two hours we start to drift off a bit. More BP ACW is in our future - just finishing up more work on the models and scenery, but it will happen.
@@ModellingforAdvantage I myself am a big fan of "small games", and I have ever since I started following your channel, wanted to make a "suitable" gaming table, but I have been in doubt about the size...👍 I'm very happy to know that there is more ECW on the way ... ECW, FOW and Black Seas battle reports are always a joy to see. Thank you very much for your reply. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
American Civil War skirmishers were not classed as "light" infantry in the European sense. Even the 1st and 2nd US Sharpshooters did not get called that.

Hey no worries mate, welcome to the hobby.
Good stuff - I always appreciate the variety of games you show off, and being able to play big battles on a 4x4 table is excellent.
Definitely more from the ACW to come down the line. Glad you enjoyed it.
thank you just bought starter set because of your show
Hope you enjoy it!
Great intro to the rules, thanx. Interesting casualty dice where did you get them please?
They are from Mortal Gods game from Footsore.
Thanx

Yeah, it is just handy nomenclature to describe which unit we are talking about in the game.
