It seems as if the katydid was sick when you first put it in the box because it kept flipping over, however the centipede probably would have won even with a healthy katydid.
I don't think it was sick its defense mechanism it to leap out of harms way but all it kept doing is jumping into to lid of the tank and knocking himself around quiet a bit, you could be right though.👍
I put some curl grubs and and a centipede i found in a container with some soil after a few weeks the centipede may have eaten one of the smaller curl grubs but eventually the centipede must have tied to take on the big curl grub and it bit the centipedes neck and head off curl grubs have quite powerful jaws.
You have no mercy to animals dont let them a pet they hurt and pain. Alive.. especially rat duck. Don't feed alive a rat on centipede.. because the Rat is like people too. They feel pain. And hurt while they eating by centipede.. the rat is crying too.. because you let the rat alive eaten by centipede.. dont you hear the cry the rat eaten by centipede alive . Or duck. Or scorpion or tipaklong or rat eaten by frog or snake feel pain too. And hurt they have heart ..what if you are in their position.. they eat you alive ..of course you feel pain cry andd hurts
That environment highly favors a crawling insect over a jumping one. The Katydid was a fish out if water.
That box is way too small for the katydid to jump and for the centipede to be able to move around in. Unfair fight.
