I got so good at Arkanoid that I could finish it with extra goes.
We had an Arkanoid machine in our military dormitory at Luke AFB. - I was in the USAF (1985-2008) - now retired.
The game is similar to the old Atari Breakout game, but adds a few extra features.
I grew up with an Atari 2600 and the Breakout game as a kid. So I had the "muscle memory" on how to play that type of game.
I admit I did spend many quarters on the game, but over time my game time per quarter returns became substantial where I could finish the game with one quarter in one sitting.
Sometimes, a bunch of the guys in the dorm would watch as I got to the end of the game. They would try to psych me with hoots and hollars. They never physically touched me while playing though. I think they all knew that was something one just didn't do to someone working to finish a game out. That or they didn't want to see my 6'4" self angry. One or the other.

Dunno what it is, but I think by the time I stop coughing I think it'll be safe to say that it is done with me. The cough got so bad earlier on in the evening that I ended up with a bit of an acid reflux thing. I think it's safe to say I'll start eating again when my body can cope with it.

I deal with customers telling me what is wrong with stuff and I know that their explanation might cover 20% of the actual problem. There is almost always way more going on than they ever tell me. That's why they pay me to be smart!

You can get “ballast bypass” (no ballast .. rewire line voltage to lamp socket) LED lamps now.

Happy Birfday Joe! Eat cake. My sympathies in regards to the Golden Tee. I have worked on two of those boards before and they are terrible with how corroded they can get.
Another great game! Although I never got as good as I did Whirlwind. The little wheel often would stick, made it hard to play.
Electronic ballasts don't need a starter, lighter, cooler, silent, will strike a tube until you have to replace it because it is so dim, lasts forever.
That light's not gonna start until you get the starter to start, Joe. If the starter doesn't start the light, it's gonna stay stopped which is kind of like being broke. 👍on smashing that Golden Tee BTW... I freaking hate that stupid game. LOL.
I was thrilled that the mini taito arcade cab add-on that was released a few years ago recreated the arkanoid spinner faithfully…my mame cabinet has a spinner but really lacks the tactile feel of the arcade.
On a side note, I also love that I can rotate the screen for paranoid and elevator action…one reason the 3-in-1 dk/dkjr/mario cab has no interest for me…despite loving all those games. Of those 3 the only one I own is a Mario bros. Widebody, as it’s my fave.
Amazing the coin box has Quarters in it and the games are still broke! Lol

What was wrong with the ballast? it seems to be working so not sure why you replaced the ballast
