Red Sparrow was the first movie I saw him in and I'm absolutely stunned. He is such an amazing actor and he can express so many emotions just with his eyes. I'm more than fascinated by him!

I felt exactly the same as you! Unfortunately he deserves his end, but he accepts his destiny and I feel that his last kiss to Dominika is authentic, I mean, with love and respect, even knowing that she sends him to death (I think she did not realize that at this time, for her subsequent reaction). That is one of the reasons why I feel sorry for him at that moment.

I agree .there's actually a powerfull moment right before the exchange . Nash , Joel's character says something like 'do you think that they'll let him make it across alive , you may have just got him killed" (nash of course thinks that she's about to betray his informant , the REAL mole ) and then the camera focuses on Dominika's face and you can see her face ,she's completely belwidered and you can see tears slowly pouring down her face . I think it's at that moment that she realizes how serious the whole thing is . I mean I 'm sure she wanted her uncle to suffer but deep down she didn't want him dead.He's her uncle after all , he's his family.Such a poignant scene.

Don’t get me wrong-Nate Nash was a strong character, and willing to take on extreme measures for Dominika-but Egorov’s allure... his charisma won me over by a mile.

I watched this film last night, one of the best films I've seen in quite a while.
He is a brilliant actor. I have watched a few of his movies and he portrays each character so well that you do not him but only that character. He changes his demeanor, body language, voice and accents to match each character. Impressive. Good Luck Matthias, hope to see you in many great movies. Waiting for Mustangs release.👍🏽

I went to see this movie because it had Joel Edgerton in it. I got home, and had to look up Matthias' work. He was captivating! Now, I've seen nearly everything he's been in, and I got a tattoo for his work in Rust and Bone, and Bullhead.
Wow! I'm in your way then, but without tattoos 😊. in my case, it was Disorder the first one I saw from him and since then...well, you know 😉
Disorder is a fantastic movie, and PTSD is something I once battled with, so I could relate (to an extent) to his character. By the way, I didn't mention in my original comment, but this video is great! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Just viewed this outstanding film. ALL of the cast were superb. East and West certainly had their own way of doing things. First time seeing this actor Mattias . Brilliant. Jennifer seems to ALWAYS shine. Even earlier films. If she is in it, I will watch it. Probably worth a hundred million dollars and continues to work. Impressive.
Yes, it's a brilliant film and the cast made a great job. Jennifer and Matthias create that special relationship, very difficult to make it look real, but they succeed, they made it real.

Isabel Dansoriental are you talking about the end when she spins around in shock even though she knew he was going to be killed as the “mole?” I’m surprised no one talks about her reaction when she is inside the helicopter either! I don’t think she regrets framing him but from her reaction she definitely felt something for him when he was ultimately killed
The only reason she's alive is because of him. He may have dragged her in the mess but she was the one who committed the crime first.

Love your video! Matthias is so good in this role, he´s an amazing actor! I love Red Sparrow and they way they made a movie from Jason Matthew´s book. I know Jason a little bit and wrote to him some times, and one of the supporting cast is a friend of mine. So maybe that explains why the whole story means so much to me. I read some comments and yes, I agree that Dominika didn´t know that he would really die. Actually when you look closely at the movie she doesn´t really want to kill anyone. She kills Matorin but only to save Nate and her, he would definitely killed both otherwise. She hates what her uncle did to her but she didn´t want to see him dead. Actually she always wants to save other people: her mother, Nate, Korchnoi. In the book the ending is a bit different but the essence is the same and there she also doesn´t know what´s going to happen. She thinks she´s going to be killed. I think that they also wanted to show this in the movie. She´s saying goodbye to Nate. And look at her face full of fear right before Vanya is killed... The movie is so good! One of my absolute favorites. Too sad we probably won´t see a sequel.

I mean, I absolutely loved her performance! But he did an amazing job in a difficult role that is neither a good guy nor a totally bad guy. I guess you also own the movie and have seen it several times because you saw so much in her expressions. Not everyone did. Maybe more people should have concentrated on this and not been searching for an action movie not to be found. Did you also read the books and know the whole story? If not I totally recommend it

@@isabeldansoriental5338 So true what you say about him. I have to admit that when I started to be interested in Red Sparrow at first it was because of Jennifer. But when I saw the other actors in their roles Matthias especially caught my interest. I saw him in The Danish Girl before - which I really loved! - and in A little Chaos and Far from the Madding Crowd. And every time he did a wonderful job. There are so many things I still discover about Red Sparrow, also talking with other people like you or some on Twitter who also love the movie for various reasons. In my work as a journalist I happened to be in Budapest when Red Sparrow was shot there. I´m happy having seen so many of the places they shot the movie! Through all this and because I did a lot of postings about the movie I became friends with one of the supporting cast from Hungary, Kincso Petho who is an Hungarian actor and dancer (we are frequently writing because she wants to improve her German and asked me to help her and visited in Budapest). She plays the role of the evil interrogator. Maybe she could be overseen by some people because Jennifer is so strong in these scenes but she is really good in her role. Like Matthias evil but somehow fascinating.
The books are worth reading if you want to know what happens next. Actually I liked the 2nd one best and now I´m a bit sad that there probably won´t be a sequel. It was a huge success here in Germany and I wished it would have been everywhere. But in the US it wasn´t

In this case the movie has also Jeremy Irons, Charlotte Rampling, Joel Edgerton and others, an interesting argument and it's very well made.
As Egorov, Matthias is stunning, only for his performance it's worth watch it!
