The Lexus UX is a compact SUV for those looking to buy their first luxury car. Its exterior styling makes it look expensive, as does the interior. Rich trims with bold color options create quite a first impression. It's a great option for singles or couples who want a more premium option without breaking their budget. Front-seat passengers have plenty of room to get comfortable, but the rear seats are cramped. There's a choice of a gas engine with front-wheel drive only or a hybrid engine with all-wheel drive only. Neither is overly powerful. They have enough oomph to get this compact SUV up to speed but are not aggressive or especially engaging. What the UX lacks in performance, it makes up for with a long list of standard safety features, a modern infotainment system, and competitive pricing for a luxury SUV.
Competitors include the Volvo XC40, which is similarly priced, but has fewer trim-level options. The BMW X1 is more expensive, but offers better performance.
PROS: Competitively priced. Strong list of standard features. Hybrid model delivers exceptional fuel economy.
CONS: Cramped rear seats. Lackluster acceleration. Lack of touchscreen makes infotainment system hard to use.
The Lexus UX is the entry-level SUV in the Lexus lineup. It has a beautifully appointed interior and elegant styling, plenty of standard features, and a hybrid option. The rear seats are tight, however, and overall performance is modest.

I like it. It would be a nice upgrade from my Scion iM that would still fit my lifestyle perfectly while being a little more premium. Gonna wait a few years though since my iM is doing the job just fine.
Btw nice modeling at the end!

When reviewing a Lexus, you need to point out the HUGE, front grill as some like it, some hate it. I hate it! I just purchased a 2020 Honda Passport Elite for the same MSRP as this over-priced Lexus. And it comes with a V6!

    • @normt5463

      Sorry...
The Passport along with Acura RDX and MDX have lost their recommended status with Consumer Reports.
"The Passport two-row midsized SUV is an all-new model based on the three-row Pilot SUV. However, members told us that their Passports suffered from climate system problems, including refrigerant leaks and the AC compressor not working properly. The similar Pilot did not have these problems. When reached via email, a Honda spokeswoman told us that “a countermeasure to address the climate system problems was applied to vehicles beginning in June, and a service bulletin was issued in August. Passport owners experiencing problems with their climate system should contact their authorized Honda dealer as soon as possible to have the vehicle inspected.”"

Put the key fob in your pants pocket and forget about it like everyone else. The UX 200 would have been better off with the CAMRY's 8 speed automatic.

I'm turned off by the navigation pad right of the gear selector. Seems like a lot of space wasted. They should make the screen touch only and re-think the center console.

    • @garyjohnson8120
      @garyjohnson8120 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Agreed. I bought an NX a couple of years ago with that haptic pad and got rid of it after a year. It was just impossible to use unless you were completely stopped. And I loved the NX. I would have thought Lexus would have gotten rid of this by now. I am anticipating the announcement of the revamped IS on June 15th because I would like to make that my next car, but if that touchpad is still there, I will pass it by.

We’ve had our UX 200 for about 17 months now and we love it. It’s not perfect but it’s fantastic for our needs. I’ve had a 2015 is350 f sport, 2018 RX hybrid f sport, the 2019 UX, and now a 2020 Es 350. The ES and UX are my favorites so far. UX is pretty slow but enough power if you learn how to accelerate just right and it’s actually fun to drive!

So basically the powertrain and ground clearance makes this a hot hatch without the hot. Definitely worth passing up based the features and value offered.
The infotainment controls are big cluster IMO.
This is a terrible value for the money. I understand why it doesn't sell.

As a long time Lexus owner, this little SUV is quite nice. I have to agree about the infotainment issues that you mentioned. However, you do get used to it rather quickly. I've never understood why the Lexus engineers are so slow in upgrading their infotainment systems since the Toyota engineers have already done so. Weird... not a deal-breaker for me, obviously, but still weird.
