The 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment that saw extensive service in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The unit was the second African-American regiment, following the 1st Kansas Colored Volunteer Infantry Regiment, organized in the northern states during the Civil War.Authorized by the Emancipation Proclamation, the regiment consisted of African-American enlisted men commanded by white officers.

I like that you animated a Lego American Civil War battle with the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. It looks clean and good and it reminds me about the movie Glory. But why are they all left handed when most civil war soldiers were right handed.
Umm actually, the 54th was a regiment and not a division 🤓.
Interesting point about all the soldiers being left handed, seems kinda odd

@@theunionforever6265 They were right handed because they couldn't shoot the muskets on the left side. You'd get a face full of powder from the percussion cap.
the ground water was commonly contaminated with minerals that made babies left-handed in the 1800s

This seen? It’s from the movie glory based on a true story. Now that I think back not much has changed since those days. The 54th was and still is a color regiment that was wiped out when they tried to take the fort. But that brings more and more people who join the union to set there friends and family free.
yeah, and if I not wrong, this is battle of James Island, 54th first combat. And yeah, we all feel sad of the lost of Regiment and the dead of 54th commander Robert Gould Shaw
It was a strategic defeat, according to after-action reports.
The 54th managed to breach the fort's initial defenses, but the following regiment went for a flanking maneuver on a weak point instead of applying pressure onto where the 54th. Needless to say, the officer of that regiment stuck to a plan instead of adapting to the changing battlefield.

Wait, Sub-Continental Indians made up the Union army in the American Civil War? Lego is actually brown-washing the Civil War, the audacity.
I think the union was the only side during the war that allowed for the so called coloured men to fight.
