  • Some race action, didn't catch it all! Congrats to Dan Timosyzk in the Vega for the win. And thank you to Steve Carpenter for putting this series together!

That's my Vega. I loved that car, and now the guys that have it. They asked me when they bought it if they could keep it as is. I thought they were kidding. They weren't. The car was built in 1975 by CF Race Cars, Tom Monaco, engine by Ralph Ridgeway. It was a 305 ci (302 out .030), Doug Nash 5 speed, Brodix heads, Brooks rods and pistons, weighed 2800 bls. and doing 9.4's, 145 MPH then. Every where I raced people thought it was a Bill Jenkins car. Thanks Dan and Dave for being great stewards.

That is so cool! It is one of my favorite cars at the track! My Maverick was originally built for B/SM and while it isn't quite as era correct as Dan has kept your Vega, I'm trying to keep it as era correct as I can, running a Boss 302 and a Nash 5-speed. I do have a pretty awesome shot of the Vega on the line with my car launching in the other lane! It was long before my time, but I really wish I got to see the days of Modified Eliminator!

@@FordMaverickFanatic I ran D/G (D/Gas) and was one of the fastest cars in New England. This may sound all wrong, but i don't remember ever losing a race or being beat off the line. When I had to give a head start, i ran them all down. The car left hard at 9600, shifted at 9600 and went through the eyes 5th gear pulling at 9400. Not too many like it back then in the late 70's early 80's. Dan and Dave have kept in touch with me which I welcome. They are great guys and I will try to get out to Milan to drive it again. I would love to see a photo of your car and the Vega. I don't know how to share my contact info with you with out the world chiming in. Don't need that.

@@albertgary7281I have no doubts it was a competitive ride! Just as a spectator, I still love to watch it make passes! And that's totally understandable!

Al glad you like how the car has been kept original. Hope you are doing well. I help Dan and Dave with the car occasionally. From the start it was the plan to keep the car original. The story Dave told me about you going to peel your name stickers off the car and Dave telling you no we are keeping it that way is memorable. When I first saw the engine and the raised intake ports I told Dave we have something special here. Hope to meet you one day at the track.

This makes me homesick I grew up just a couple miles from Detroit Dragway and Milan after Detroit closed down became my second home away from home 😂

My dad used to race at this track in Michigan, in the late 60's to early 70's, mostly street stuff, nothing special. Very cool to see it's still going strong
