I love the New Mutants, so should I use my first Spotlight cache I’ll be earning soon at a chance at Mirage, or try for something more playable considering I have only 3 pool three cards, Magik, Quake & Ghostrider? Or how about this week for a chance at Legion ( to combo with Magik or High Ev side I’ve got most those regular joes or Darkhawk who looks generically good?

I'm still not sold on Darkhawk's design. Even outside of the Thanos hard counter, I'm not a fan of the way it double dips by rewarding the player for punishing the opponent. Most cards in Snap are designed around either boosting yourself or punishing the opponent, generally sacrificing power for a stronger effect or vice versa. With Darkhawk, it gains double its power if you draw into the Korg/Rockslide combo, but it remains on-rate even if you don't. Compared to something like Wong, if you don't draw your combo, you either drew or played a significantly under-rate card for no benefit.
Though not a proposal for an actual Darkhawk change, imagine if Darkhawk was like a 4/4 that provided +2 for each card in the opponent's deck that wasn't originally there. While it would still provide that bonus power, it would only gain power from the rocks it adds, as well as things like the Infinity stones or Mjolnr, and it would lose that power if the opponent drew in to them. The power is lost in exchange for the opponent losing a draw, and the card is under-rate if all the rocks are drawn. It gets one benefit, but not both.
It's in the realm of what I'd want to do with Darkhawk. To provide some risk to warrant the reward it provides. It would give the user intel as to when their opponent draws a rock (unless vs. Thanos/Thor), in exchange for making the card much less of a raw powerhouse. Thanos would have a much easier time dealing with it if it can draw all the stones, it would dramatically nerf the Mystique/Iron Lad combo, and it would no longer unnecessarily fit into a Negative deck that only uses it for its statline and the base +6 it adds on top. The biggest issue I see with the imagined design is that It removes the card's consistency, which is the primary reason its sees so much play. Instead of playing a reliable 19 power for 9 energy, you get a potential 11-17 power for the same cost , depending on how many rocks your opponent draws. But that's the kind of risk I think a card like this should carry to be more in line with its contemporaries.
I'm sure there's much they could do with the numbers, maybe bring Rockslide back up to a 4/6 if necessary. But I do hope they come up with an idea to make the design more engaging. Easily one of my top 5 cards I'd want to change.
