Foldscope team, two questions: 1) What's the purpose of the double-sided tape that goes between the coupler and the lens? 2) The magnetic flap has a hard time coupling to the stage magnet, especially with a glass slide inserted. Do you have any suggestion to make this work better? I assume it's required to hold the sample at a correct distance to the lens? By the way, this is an excellent video - the directions should have a link to it prominently at the beginning of the instructions.
The purpose of double sided tape is to prevent the magnet from sticking to other magnets

yeah not as easy as it looks, an hour later i can't figure out how to get the back to "snap on"
the magnet is probably reversed. the one that's in the yellow flap, turn it over.
both my lenses seem to be dirty and nothing has been able to clean them. I keep seeing the same pattern

So sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, the focus ramp is one of the fundamental pieces and if it is broken it will be very difficult to use the Foldscope. We recommend using tape to try to fix it - let us know if it works 🙏🏽

Our kits only came with two couplers and what appears to be the lens already attached to a coupler, which is fine.. except when using the Foldscope with the phone coupler, the lens/coupler keeps popping out, even though it is inserted properly. Please help. I have already distributed these to online lab students.

I got only two coupler
Please make sure you are separating the lens (circular piece) from the couplers (squares). They are magnetic pieces, a common mistake is people assume they have only 1-2 pieces, when in reality there are more, just all stuck together. If that doesn't solve the problem, please email sales@foldscope.com reporting the missing pieces so we can help you 🙏🏽

They are delicate stickers and should be pulled on lightly, our new ring stickers are more durable and will not rip!
I don't have the lens
Because it is magnet, it could be stuck to the coupler so make sure you have separated them adequately. If you still can't find it in your kit, please email us at info@foldscope.com
I bought one deluxe kit to try. An hour later it still doesn’t work. I’m so glad I didn’t buy a class set for my 5th graders.
Sorry you had trouble - many people have made it work, I'm sure you can too. It's been a few years, but maybe you want to try again? We have a new one that is a little easier to use. We also sell pre-assembled ones.

This is a great innovation but the only problem is that even being made by an indian it is not provided at the justified rate (1$) but at around 400-500
This cost $9 in my area :\ where can i buy the $1 version.
