I am only up to ep 130 but Gintama has already made me think a lot of my view on life. Unexpectedly, it also made realize how much I relate to Itou and the truth of how I became what I am now, a lonely and sad Madao. Hell even Hasegawa is less of a Madao than I am. It's so painful seeing Itou's flashback on his younger self and finding parallels of it in my own youth. It matches almost perfectly, I can't help but tear up at how messed up I was and how lonely I was. People saw me as a prodigy though I wasn't as brilliant as Itou, and I probably won't get the same ending as Itou, dying surrounded by people he can call friends and comrades despite what he's done to them Of course it's not realistic to think that I can die in the same way a fictional character dies, life isn't anime after all. That said though, this anime is truly one of a kind. It's a shame I didn't get into it sooner, though I don't regret it either
