The hateful aspects of this game are really visible in heroes deaths. They want this fun underdog team vibe like in guardians of the galaxy. But hard to make me feel like that when we just gunned down someone like the flash, who’s one of my childhood icons. The death of one of comics biggest heroes is used as a Segway in to a penis joke. Bizarrely written
Their inability to figure out why a bunch of players cannot even boot up the game without it freezing at the “Signing into WB Services” screen (myself included), let alone fix it, after several weeks, is infuriating
People also don't want to kill the JL aside from maybe the small people who did. There's also politics injected into it. Plus the lore is inaccurate. Lantern rings float away to find a worthy bearer. So not only was the writing mean spirited but also the inaccuracies.
Big corporations have a weird obsession, giving out content no one wants or ever asked for! Batman first appeared 1939, if fans WANT Batman THEN GIVE THEM BATMAN!
They should have done the grounded heroes like Green Arrow and Wild Cat first and then carefully move to more and more powerful heroes like Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter.
Going to be honest, how can video game companies that are supposed to be good at doing business not pay attention to the actual reason people are not buying their games, if it’s successful fine ignore the complaints if you desire but if it’s a failure wouldn’t you want the real reason it failed instead of making one up for like ego or whatever
I ask the same question. It seems like there are more powerful leftist corporations that think sending a message and pushing certain agendas are the most important thing right now. They don’t mind taking the financial hit or shutting down publishers because they already have so much money and own everything. The only goal is to slowly spread the “progressive” message. You can tell because they continue to do it despite terrible sales time after time across several forms of media. We can only try to vote with our wallets and hope companies eventually get the message, stop getting political, and start making good content again.
This whole situation was just a letdown. The game could have been really fun, but instead its just a slap in the face to the same people who enjoyed and supported all of their previous projects. I don't even need Batman back, but I don't really want a game like this. If I want this kind of game I can play Fortnite and it's actually fun and free.
It’s been 9 years since Arkham Knight and this is what we got. Let’s think about that. And even if you think this is better or a worthy successor keep in mind Arkham City to Arkham Knight had less than half of that. Even if you think Knight is worse look at all the improvements and how it evolved the story. Some let downs yes but overall I don’t think it’s controversial to say that it was a worthy successor.
the founders of rocksteady left along with some of the old employees aswell to create an AAA company called HundredStar Games because OBVIOUSLY sweet baby inc took over their company and ruined their project by making it a non AAA game which fucking sucks even more to me than im sure it does to the founders
The problem is they won't learn. They'll probably just lay people off from the WB Games divisions like Rocksteady then blame people like us and be mad. Then they'll make nothing for years again lol
I just thought it was a little naive of Warner to think that Suicide Squad would make the same money as Hogwarts Legacy. After this flop, the sequel of Hogwarts Legacy could probably come out sooner.
Tbh even if it was SIMILAR and you teamed up with Batman as the Squad to actually save the JL instead of ending them, it would have been a lot better. Idk why we have to just randomly end our heroes or clones of them. It's so edgy lol.
If the game was its own entity and non-cannon it would've been infinitely better. Because then no one would really have to care about it or emotionally invest into it. WB's big mistake with this game was attempting to attach this thing to the Arkham-verse, however. They underestimated how beloved those games were, even with people being annoyed by Arkham Knight's story.
I mean none of this would fix the writting issues present. It is incomprehensible being connected to arkkam but even on its own it is not consistent or at all well writting. The whole story needed to be scrapped and started over with real mission design added in for the campaign missions.
@conathlnzo8126 that's not even criticism, also they have the rights to send death threats? This is why sometimes I hate freedom of speech because it just leads to idiots like them to do stupid things like that
They think as long as they aren't willing to act on it, it shouldn't be taken seriously. Except, who can read their minds? Plus, what gamer hasn't received a death threat in their life?
A lot of voice actors don't actually get the whole script or even know what piece of media they're voicing for. Also, Kevin Conroy could absolutely have stood by the writing decisions of this game, but that still doesn't mean the writing was good. People don't disagree with the writing for The Last Jedi just because Mark Hamil doesn't like it, people don't like The Last Jedi because it was genuinely badly written. My point: it doesn't matter if Kevin Conroy liked the story of this game. People should form their own opinion without bringing up what someone else could have said or could have thought.
The other thing is you can’t always take what they say as gospel because even Mark Hamil walked back a lot of his comments and even at his most critical he was pretty polite ….because in public What they really think behind closed doors is probably very different
Honestly personally for me I would’ve rather have had a Superman game because that game would’ve been really awesome and tons of fun but that’s just my opinion.
There's rumors that what ultimately became SSKTJL started life as a standalone Superman game before someone at WB pulled the plug on the project. Which if true would explain why this game has Supermans hometown of Metropolis as a sandbox and not say Central City or Bludhaven.
@@tommyfishhouse8050 from what I read apparently there was no rocksteady Superman game ever being made and apparently the plan was always a multiplayer game from the start but that’s just my opinion
I fully expect WB to pull the plug on this game before they even get to the next season of the game where they were allegedly going to bring the Justice League back through cloning or whatever.
Absolutely agree with your point about how devs are handling criticism publicly. I mean, you’d think people who work with tech as often as they do and have to be so solid at taking into account the public eye would be more concerned about how permanent what you say on the internet truly is.
theres probably an unspoken reason why Rocksteady’s co-founders left before this release. When corporate bean counters force an artist to turn their vision into only a cash cow this is what happens.
Honestly not surprised this game failed. Modern live service games are the new toys-to-life. One game was able to succed (Skylanders), then a bunch of copycats came in trying to get a piece of the pie, and then failed (Disney Infinity, Lego Dimensions, etc). Here, Fortnite, Destiny, and Overwatch suceceded. Then a bunch of copycats come along and try to take a bite from the genre. (Warzone, SSKTJL, etc)
The sad truth is that even though Hogwarts Legacy was the best selling game of 2023, it probably made a fraction to live service games like Fortnite, COD, etc. This isn't the end of WB and live service trust me, I hope I'm wrong tbh, but Warner bros. doesn't seem the learning type.
@@inshal6420The issue isnt live service. They can be good. The issue is adding it to game ideas where it doesnt fit and having studios thay specialize in sp games make live service mp games.

Probably they'd finish their season 1, but I'd say they'll wrap it up soon after that, really prematurely compared to their original plans. But, I'm not really surprised and not complaining lol. Nobody wanted this game to begin with, and it was evident with people voting with their wallets. Shame they couldn't give us a game that we wanted, like a Superman game or a Justice League game.
People are insane. He had very few opportunities left to play the character and fans WANTED him to play the character. He isn't responsible for the writing or directing choices. His job is to deliver lines. Even if he absolutely HATED the direction and he likely knew that fans wouldn't be thrilled, why would he stay home and stare at the walls rather than work on this game? At the end of the day, it was a job. The man had family who could use the money, bills to pay and time to fill. It is astonishing to me that anyone but literal children could think he was going to stay home, or had to be tricked into doing it.
For me this game was doomed since they destroyed canon to fit their writing, a good writing team would have been able to follow estabished lore and if they had trouble it was as easy as to make it some other universe.
The fact that WB legitimately said "It's So Over, Bros" is somewhat admirable. And considering another high profile game franchise of theirs (Mortal Kombat) is also losing all sorts of steam, we might get to hear them admit this again. Hopefully this will teach them that selling expensive unfinished & mean spirited games isn't what people want. But like you said, they'll most likely learn the wrong lesson from this. 5:28 Also this joke would've been better if you said Jared instead of Jerry.

I think a lot of people really underestimate how much Kevin Conroy loved voicing this character. His performance is the only redeeming factor of some pretty terrible shows and movies set around Batman. He's lent his voice to stuff that turned out badly before, and he still took those parts because he was passionate about voicing this character. That being said, with a lot of stuff, the voice actors don't usually see the totality of the work, so there was probably some stuff that the game decided to do with this character that he didn't know about.
*DONT forgive Rocksteady!!!* They ruined your franchise!!! Why forgive them??? Its the same of you saying "My dad beat the shit out of my mom... but if he brought me an toy, I forgive him!"... Thats just sick!!!

What happen inside Rocksteady?? did they fired all the original devs?? and replace them with Woke/feminist devs? this is total job and insult to Arkham Knight.
I don't know if it's just me but i'm really tired of the Suicide Squad IP, it's been overused, i didn't like either live action movies, i only enjoyed Hell to Pay and this game really just gave me more Suicide Squad fatigue
The decision to release the game in its current state with bad-taste plots, jeopardizing the future of its roadmap, may result in Kevin's pre-recorded lines never being used and the true ending parts of the game never being produced or playable, it’s a crime😢
If there’s one thing I like about these games failing is that It doesn’t matter how Iconic or recognisable the IP is, It will fail if it’s dog shit and people won’t Like it, sadly that lesion hasn’t been learned by the big corpos yet and probably never will.
If this game's characters actually played like their comic book counterparts as opposed to identical looter shooter characters. The game would have done a lot better. Imagine if Marvel made Thor go around shooting enemies with a machine gun!!! It's simply asinine. The bad writing is just a cherry on top of this live service pile of crap.
I knew this game would be horrible the moment I heard its premise in DC Fandome. I'm an Arkham series fan so I didn't like how they disgracefully killed Batman. They should have made his death emotional for Harley given their long history together. For example, Clementine killing Lee in The Walking Dead Telltale game. Now I wish they'd made this game non canon to the Arkhamverse. They can't make Arkham games for Superman, Wonder Woman or the others now that they're dead.🤦🏽♂
This is my shocked face, I swear. Like I said: enough with the "games as a service" garbage. Complete, clean (as in not broken and all glitches patched pre-release) games on release, PLEASE!. That's not asking for much and honestly should be a common sense type of no-brainer by all gaming companies at this point. It's no coincidence that peaks of gaming sales happened in previous gens of gaming consoles across the board compared to now with the rise of this games as service crap.
I almost completely agree with you, except I still think it's wiser to remember that Kevin Conroy, while an amazing human being, was still a human being and not an infallible god. I would never attack the guy, but I do think it's a mistake to act like he couldn't make mistakes or choose projects that didn't put Batman in the best light. It would be entirely understandable if the dude made some bad choices. The blame, though, is on the people who made this trainwreck. I guess corporate wanted their live-action whale-bait, and multiverses and Fortnite are in!, so...let's just do what everyone else is doing and make as much money as possible for the least amount of effort (or to be more fair, effort put into all the wrong places), and who cares how well any of that fits into the world that Rocksteady had lovingly built or the effects it has on it, even retroactively. I still have plenty of criticism to go around for Arkham Knight, but for all its problems, at the end of the day that game was still incredibly fun, detailed, and well-made. My soul still calls me back to that game at least once a year regardless of the laundry list of issues I have with it. I can't defend this thing AT ALL, and I don't even want to because *_everything_* I can't stand about the gaming industry in 2024 is on display here. And you're absolutely right that they always seem to come away having learned the wrong lessons. Blaming fans for design choices _they_ made is peak self-destructive arrogance, and worse right now because this is hardly the first time fans have had to deal with it over the past decade.

I still can’t believe a studio as talented as Rocksteady (was) made this. I think WB are a big part of it but my goodness, I saw this coming right after the gameplay reveal on State Of Play. I honestly thought Rocksteady could’ve made a good Suicide Squad game when they revealed it. I thought at the VERY least it would’ve been a good story. Ah well, won’t be treating Rocksteady with the same reverence I did prior to this. I honestly don’t care about anything they make next whether it’s Batman, Superman, Flash or anyone else if it’s this quality that we’re getting going forward.
It's a very good-looking game, so kudos to the artists, designers, and animators. Just a shame the writers chose 'wacky and clownish' over something more thoughtful. All that talent could have been marshalled into a dark single-player. Alas.
Also just disappointed that this games Kevin’s last work for the games.. in an alternative universe we would be talking about how badass the Batman beyond game was and the voice work of original Batman and Terry…we’d be discussing that Batman beyond movie being made since the game did so well…that the spider verse people wanted to do it….alas we are in this shitty time line……..no Batman Beyond anywhere……just thinking about Kevin voicing Bruce as himself but older then when he did the show… the voice work would have gone so hard….
the best way to tell Rocksteady how this game is, is not to buy the game if you think it's not good. I haven't bought it for the simple fact that I don't like the "only online" games like this. I bought the Arkham Knight game and it was great, but when I heard about this game then heard about all the issues with the game, it was not a sell for me...
im like 98% sure that kevin did those lines but the original game wasnt going to kill him off so my theory is that sweet baby inc cut out the other voice lines of kevin conroys performance and to this day they probably still have the rest of his voice lines somewhere in their company files.

I thought the game was enjoyable. But after getting to incursion level 80 and unlocking everything in the Bane tier 1-3, there truly is nothing left to do. In addition, the bugs preventing me from 100% the riddler trophies, locked in tier 1 raising hell, and after playing a couple incursion missions getting the forever metropolis loading screen is absolutely ridiculous. I doubt we will even get to play the 12 other version of Brainac due to this game being seen as a failure, but this is kinda Rocksteady/WB deserve after not listening to fans about live service games.

My main problem is WBD is so fuckjng greedy that they saw the Hogwarts legacy sales and decided all their games should sell like that. And I have no idea when the next DC game is going to come out, and I have no idea if WBD is going to shelve games so they can take tax write offs. People also don't want to kill the JL aside from maybe the small people who did. There's also politics injected into it. Plus the lore is inaccurate. Lantern rings float away to find a worthy bearer. So not only was the writing mean spirited but also the inaccuracies.
Spider-Man 2 had political injections, this game had political fistings.
@@ezzahhh true you aren't wrong. It was way more intense in suicide squad
@@inshal6420 perhaps but we'll have to see.
Big corporations have a weird obsession, giving out content no one wants or ever asked for! Batman first appeared 1939, if fans WANT Batman THEN GIVE THEM BATMAN!
They want us to want the games that makes them money
More embarrasing. This game took roughly as long to make as there entire arkham trillogy. Like. Just how?
Im afraid Rocksteady will soon get the axe..such a shame
The people who made rocksteady rocksteady have already left, now its just rocksteady by name
The founders of rocksteady left and others did too
Same case with Blizzard. Both are just zombie companies nowadays
the founders of rocksteady left along with some of the old employees aswell to create an AAA company called HundredStar Games because OBVIOUSLY sweet baby inc took over their company and ruined their project by making it a non AAA game which fucking sucks even more to me than im sure it does to the founders
@seynpurrp5667 it's AAAA now lol ask ubisoft
I wish nothing but bad upon this game, WB need to learn their lesson here that this is not what fans want
The problem is they won't learn. They'll probably just lay people off from the WB Games divisions like Rocksteady then blame people like us and be mad. Then they'll make nothing for years again lol
Yeah all these years later since it was announced and I still don't understand how this game got past the pitching phase.
I just thought it was a little naive of Warner to think that Suicide Squad would make the same money as Hogwarts Legacy. After this flop, the sequel of Hogwarts Legacy could probably come out sooner.
This game would have been so much better if the game was arkham batman vs evil justice league or not put it in the arkham universe
I really hate people who send death threats to actors, script writers, directors, editors, and animators....how does anyone justify that?
They are sick individuals who think that violence force and the threat of such things is how to get their way.
@@DegenerateJay I've seen people defend death threats saying they have the "rights" to do it. I even read some that consider it as valid criticism.
@DegenerateJay oh and furthermore how the heck can they justify insulting a dead actors mental health? Shame
Plus, what gamer hasn't received a death threat in their life?
holy right now 3 hour after this video got post, Gotham Knights has more players that SS, if that is not a failure nothing is
A lot of voice actors don't actually get the whole script or even know what piece of media they're voicing for.
The other thing is you can’t always take what they say as gospel because even Mark Hamil walked back a lot of his comments and even at his most critical he was pretty polite ….because in public
What they really think behind closed doors is probably very different
I feel like the people who like this game are more fans of basic online looter shooters than they are if the Arkham franchise.
Hopefully a good Superman game will come out of this. I'll even take an Injustice 3 at this point.
I still welcome a third injustice game, even if it hurts due to Conroy's permanent absence.
i dont want another fighting game, no ty.
The one good thing about this game is it made me replay Arkham Knight
I fully expect WB to pull the plug on this game before they even get to the next season of the game where they were allegedly going to bring the Justice League back through cloning or whatever.
Absolutely agree with your point about how devs are handling criticism publicly. I mean, you’d think people who work with tech as often as they do and have to be so solid at taking into account the public eye would be more concerned about how permanent what you say on the internet truly is.
Just because someone works in tech doesn't mean they actually understand the consequences of their actions.
@@thereseemstobeenanerror1219 Fair
theres probably an unspoken reason why Rocksteady’s co-founders left before this release. When corporate bean counters force an artist to turn their vision into only a cash cow this is what happens.
I actually want a good Green Lantern game. With all of this ‘No Man’s Sky’ flying off planet stuff would be an awesome starting point for a GL game.
I think that should be a mass effect style rpg
I'd imagine their post launch content will be cut short with this game being a failure.
"Well look at that another live service failure just like Avengers and GKs I'm shocked oh wait no I'm not"
People are insane.
What a disappointment to the Arkham franchise
>you just want another batman game.
I mean, is that supposed to be a bad thing? 😂
The moment WB stops treating people as paypigs and instead treat them as gamers, moviegoers, etc. will be the day that they start seeing success.
According to some very reliable mk leakers. WB are pleased with MK and making plans beyond the second Kombat pack…..so at least in their eyes MK seems to be a success
@@billmcdermott9647 the game is losing players on a almost daily basis due to the game having a myriad of problems, so I'm honestly not sure how well that additional content will do, but I guess only time will tell.

I can't imagine being in sales at DC and having to find a way to convince people to buy this trash.
The only people who should be shamed about this game are WB execs and all of the brain dead writers.
Sweet Baby Inc doesn't care about the characters
I tried to play this game and give it a chance but in my opinion even the combat is just dull and boring. I couldn’t make it past like 3 hours because I was just bored.
*DONT forgive Rocksteady!!!*
They ruined your franchise!!! Why forgive them???
Its the same of you saying "My dad beat the shit out of my mom... but if he brought me an toy, I forgive him!"... Thats just sick!!!
i do some research about this game, it's developed by Rocksteady studios, how on earth they went from creating a masterpiece like Arkham Knight, Arkham City to this garbage???? mind blowing.
WB has been trying to turn it into the punk alternative to superhero teams. They've hadixed success to say the least
The decision to release the game in its current state with bad-taste plots, jeopardizing the future of its roadmap, may result in Kevin's pre-recorded lines never being used and the true ending parts of the game never being produced or playable, it’s a crime😢
I mean people say it's cuz they pissed off fans.
But TLOU2 was still somehow a success despite the story being handled even worse
This is the best video ive seen regarding this whole situation. Great job man
death threats is unnecessary, no need too knock the devs they’ll see the damage in their bank account
Narratively this game is so far removed from what I wanted as a continuation to Arkham Knight..I have no desire to own nor play this game..
If there’s one thing I like about these games failing is that It doesn’t matter how Iconic or recognisable the IP is, It will fail if it’s dog shit and people won’t Like it, sadly that lesion hasn’t been learned by the big corpos yet and probably never will.
Here's hoping Monolith's Wonder Woman remains on track!
Well done boys. We completed the mission
I do like that you’ve been playing it, really giving it a chance, well done sir
This is my shocked face, I swear. Like I said: enough with the "games as a service" garbage. Complete, clean (as in not broken and all glitches patched pre-release) games on release, PLEASE!. That's not asking for much and honestly should be a common sense type of no-brainer by all gaming companies at this point.
It's no coincidence that peaks of gaming sales happened in previous gens of gaming consoles across the board compared to now with the rise of this games as service crap.
I’m honestly worried this will cause Rocksteady to go under
I almost completely agree with you, except I still think it's wiser to remember that Kevin Conroy, while an amazing human being, was still a human being and not an infallible god.
I love how to them it’s “fallen short of expectations” but to the entire gaming community it’s performing EXACTLY up to expectations. Lmao
It feels like the devs made an intresting roof top combat game and WB was like we hace an idea

I heard from other TH-camrs, that the rocksteady team behind this game isn’t mostly the old rocksteady. Whether it’s factual, it sucks to see the perception of their studio diminished.
In my opinion they should use the story from the Mobile game DC heroes and villans and make a AAA game inspired by that. There would be a lot of characters they could add with DLC.

Popcorn 🍿...the energy went against...thats why.
I don't wanna pay 70 Euros for a unfinished game you can't play when you buy it, you pay for buying and more paying microtransactions for upgrade, this game is about how much you pay after buy it,
For same people it would mean go back to single player games...but for wb it means make all games live service
All I wanted was a arkham batman beyond game instead I got a ideologically driven online mess that kills my favorite version of the batman and don't give Me that " it's a clone" bs because it's was marketed as arkham batman 😕
Yea Jay I like the gameplay and thought the story was weak. And I like the Harley/Shark and Deadshot characters, didn’t care for Boomerang. I have no doubt this game will be retconned and forgotten about or they will have a tie in comic explaining the Justice league is still alive. My main problem is WBD is so fuckjng greedy that they saw the Hogwarts legacy sales and decided all their games should sell like that. And I have no idea when the next DC game is going to come out, and I have no idea if WBD is going to shelve games so they can take tax write offs. It’s going to be 4-5 more years before we get any new game if we do at all
They should have made a single player game about literally any other character or group
See killing the justice would have been fun and great if it was firstly well written and more importantly fun and creative, you literally shoot down superman like a bullet sponge
