    I've been reading so many analyses of WandaVision and none of them found half of these references. Your deep expertise is much appreciated. As is the extra-clear speaking tone you reserve for statements like "Wanda and Pietro were raised by a MUTATED COW named BOVA."

      That was seriously amazing, I knew about Bova but had completely missed the ad poster in the animation. Beautiful deep cut!

      If I recall, Bova was in the X-Men animated series, correct?
      I might be just mixing that up with random High Evolutionary creatures, but I am pretty sure Bova was showcased heavily in some flashbacks ...

    Great episode. You make the most sense of these corresponding instances. That retort, “You must not read the comics.” Is an insult to people, like me, who read these comics when they were published (35 years or more ago). Unfortunately, I don’t have perfect recall and couldn’t remember or couldn’t connect the comics stories to Wandavision when the connection seems faint at best. That doesn’t mean I don’t/ didn’t read the comics.

    I really hate the "magneto isn't actually their father" retcon..
    They need to stop letting the movies influence the comics, isn't it spouse to be the other way around?!
    It creates nothing but confusion and ruins decades old relationships.

    • @crazysnas181
      @crazysnas181 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think that was because Marvel didn't have the X-Men movies at the time.
      I think she'll return back to being Wanda's daughter.

    • @101Mant
      @101Mant 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It wasn't so much that as Marvel really fell out with Fox who had the rights to some of the characters. and didn't want to tomdo anything that would promote them. Fantastic Four comic got outright cancelled, they tried to replace mutants with Inhumans everywhere and the stupid retcon. Despite the fact that things that affected mutants affected the twins previously. Its dumb because comics sell in such tiny numbers compared to other media they have basically zero effect on it.

    • @crazysnas181
      @crazysnas181 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@101Mant oh yeah I agree, I said that the People who were harmed the most by that were comic fans.
      People who read X-men or Fantastic Four are going to see the film's regardless, and if someone picks up an X-Men or a Fantastic Four book because of the movies, that's a bonus right?
      I never got Marvel's logic behind that, it was probably the stupidest thing they've done in recent memory and they deserve to mocked for it today.
      As I've said, I think it'll get retconned back and be explained away with Scarlett Witch not wanting to be related to Magneto, it's a Deus ex machina at this point, but I'll take it

    Marvel has a villain called the Swarm, introduced in mid 1977. He fought first the Champions and later Spider-Man. He is a former Nazi (the story was published in the mid 1970s) that fleed to South America and spent time with beekeeping. We never saw his face in that first storyline, and I assume that we don't see his face in the series either.
    The origin of his powers was always a bit vague, but his first storyline stated that a key element of them was his access to the queen bee of the literal swarm that composed his body.

    i love how the marvel movie/tv writers are clearly familiar with the entire back story in the comics. they are obviously allowed to pick and choose, and they are careful to not grant the characters qualities that are anathema to their comics reality (like superman going back in time...AHEM). i never know how it will play out, but i love feeling like this is a sincered addition to the mythology of the characters, building on their past creatively. its in the spirit of Watchmen, where Alan Moore took a completely fresh look at the genre, critiquing it but not violating the, how shall i put, TROPES. yes, expectations can be subverted. but there is a limit to that, and the writers seem to really get how far they can go.
