I had the exact same problem with Gideon the Ninth - you described the sensation of reading this book so well. What a relief to know I wasn't the only one! I DNF'd at just over 50%, but ended up finishing after a couple of weeks. I felt like I was in a weird bubble when reading and listening to this book, as though the information didn't stick in my head. I found myself re-reading sections just to make sense and to fill out my understanding of the world. I did end up enjoying the book (and purchasing a copy to keep in my personal library - I mean that coverrrrrr right?) and I am looking forward to the next.

Your Wednesday makeup is beautiful! That purple eye shadow is super cute! Also, I don't know if you've read Haunting of Hill House yet, but Shirley Jackson has another "light" thriller book called The Bird's Nest that deals with psychological issues. It's a pretty quick and interesting read. It was published in the early 50's, so the way people deal with the psychology is really interesting! Not a five star, but I recommend it if you're after a quick psychological "light" thriller :) Thank you!
I finished "The Picture of Dorian Gray" about an hour ago and loved it! I think the best way to describe it comes from chapter 3 "... you are quite delightful, and dreadfully demoralising", haha. I feel the same way about the description filled part. It just jumped from one part of the story to the future which kind of makes sense how that happened. I did kind of predict the end early on, but of course I got distracted by other things and let go of my theory. It was also my first time annotating a book, and I can't even fathom how many quotes I highlighted and tabbed! It was a 5 star for me, and I really hope you do give it a second go. I read it in physical form, and I feel like I got a lot out of the text itself, especially because I took my time reading it.
Sorry for the rambling, no one else I know has read it so I can't talk about it with anyone lol. Anyway, great job on your reading week! I'll stop now. Um, bye!👋

Your dad's reaction is adorable!!! Also, have you tried returning the books you finish on Audible? So what I do is, I use credits to buy books and then once I'm done, I'll use the website to chat with an employee and ask to return the books so I can get my credits back. I'm not sure if it's different between America and Australia, but that definitely helps me get through more audiobooks.
I haven't! Unless I truly didn't like an audiobook I just wouldn't feel comfortable with it, but thank you!

I just finished reading queen of air and darkness!! And I LOVED IT!! 😍😁 my favourite book In TDA series I just kept putting it off for whole year coz I was intimidated by its size. But when I picked it up, I finished it in 3 days! Just couldn’t put it down 🙈

I've tried audiobooks a bunch of times before but somehow it doesn't work for me... maybe I just haven't found the perfect audiobook or audiobook service for me, but physical reading is always my way to go
I know what you mean about the audio books. I want to enjoy them so much more then I do but one of the audio books that helped me to get use to them better was Sadie because of how the book is written so you may want to give that one a try.

How does book of the month work? You just pay a month and get a book every month? Can someone explain lol
You get to pick between I think 5 books and if you don't like any of them you can choose to skip the month. So you only pay if you pick one of the books. I think you can also choose between adult and ya.
