    Jimmy Rosemond has one of the most intriguing and notorious stories in Hip Hop history. A legitimate street dude turned multimillionaire music mogul, Rosemond represented The Game, Brandy, Sean Kingston, Mike Tyson, and countless others. He was charged with six life sentences on a kingpin statute as well as an additional life sentence for his involvement in the murder of G-Unit affiliate Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher.
    This week, Rosemond’s murder-for-hire charge was overturned. His remaining Kingpin charges are the primary subject of Unjust Justice: The Jimmy Rosemond Tapes, a docuseries by Don Sikorski that challenges the state’s narrative. Sikorski is the producer and director of the lauded BMF documentary and believes Rosemond’s kingpin conviction was egregious and false. Justin Hunte spoke with both Jimmy Rosemond and Don Sikorski about Unjust Justice. Both attest that Rosemond has not seen the docuseries yet, nor did he have any involvement in its findings outside of the interviews he contributed while incarcerated.
    This week’s episode is a story that includes 50 Cent, Tupac Shakur, Empire creator Lee Daniels, phony FBI documents, and an allegedly politically motivated District Attorney. But there are bigger issues that affect us all. Let’s break it down.

      Young Suave shooting at quad city had nothing to do with pac going to jail. Pac was accused of rape with three other members of his entourage. He was convicted of forceful touching of the buttock of the accuser and sentenced to three years. He was released on bail during his appeal to this charge.

      @@Ramble79 From her interview and the details it seems that she _was_ actually raped as an 18 year old, over-impressed girl, by the people she named. Until that interview I didn't believe that. So, no rape, no trial. I'm down with Pac but other issues were already taking place and he was in the middle of more than one thing that could go sideways and the authorities had him under surveillance from earlier cases (e.g., park shooting and his case v the shot undercover cops) and his political statements so were OK with things going left.

    • @Ramble79
      @Ramble79 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      MiKhay I watched her interview on vlad and she didn’t seem credible. Her story seemed choppy leaving me with more questions then answers. I have to question her motives for doing the interview? She could’ve moved on and lived a life obscurity. Which makes sense as she is nearing 50 years old. I agree Pac didn’t need help getting into trouble. But the rape trial caused the beef with HJ, and Jimmy. When Pac was interviewed by a journalist he called out HJ and the rest is history. Pac was robbed and shot, was locked up and led to Deathrow.

    Im glad this is finally getting looked at again. That being said, I think everyone tacitly understands that if you fuck with a man's kids you should reasonably expect to end up in the ground.
    With regards to the legal part of the video, it is important to remember that the opposite of a guilty verdict is not "innocent" but simply "not guilty". Its not about being a boy scout and the criminal law should be about punishing demonstrable acts of crime. The issue is that it is often used to regulate morality, especially for Black men who are perceived as being "not innocent" to begin with. This makes Black folks the perfect targets for a legal system that serves more to regulate morality rather than punishing serious (i.e violent) crime. Hence all these poor fucks in jail for non-violent drug offences.

    Could hip hop dx go into STEEZ's passing. I've researched his death extensively and I just think it would be a hella interesting episode of this great series. Some of STEEZ's friends claim he had ego death, meaning that through heavy psychedelic usage, he lost his own self worth and self importance. There's also all the shit on how cinemark shelved his projects and then all the different aspects of spirituality that went into the psychology of STEEZ

    Very interesting and educational. My opinion on drugs and guns in a destitute environment is that some of the people in my area have no other way. I don't condone it, but sometimes there really isn't another way. As far as someone getting six life sentences for drugs... it's ignorant. Do I want to deal? No. do I want to shoot someone? No. Do I want to survive? Yes. I'm not saying I have a real opinion about these men, I'm saying that things aren't always clear cut. I absolutely don't believe PAC got shot over some jewelry though. Life is crazy. Always tell the people you love that you love them.

    hey justin, i love all your videos and i support hiphopdx but i was wondering would you do a video on the rise and fall of 50 cent...now without question 50 cent is a legend and one of the biggest acts in music of the 21 century..but i think a video detailing the feuds he has been in would be dope!, did 50 cent ruin new york hip hop?, did those beefs hurt his career? "lets break it down"🔥

    • @hiphopdx
      @hiphopdx  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hahaah! It's funny, that's something we talk about often... 50 Cent's impact on NYC's decline. A lot of credit is given to the south, sure... but what happens when everyone hates on each other?

    • @snellsman
      @snellsman 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      HipHopDX it was a lot more than 50 that caused NY's music declined. The breakup of Roc-a-fella & Dipset played a part as well. Can't blame it all on 1 artist

    u should do a fitty cent one like "we miss the old kanye" , or "rise n fall of dmx" or a goat argument. hes def in the convo. his two first albums were very successful, easily a classic maybe two with massacare. hip hop embraced him when he came in, and we still do. he still sells records. he is a mogel. he set a completly new standard for "being real", as far as his honesty in music. you may not think hes technically polished enough to be in the running, but alot of ppl do. maybe a cassidy argument or breakdown as best lyricist . why there is no mainstream lane nowadays for "punchline rappers" ie. cassidy, fabolous, lloyd banks, joe budden, jadakiss, guys like that. in the early 2000's the mainstream was flooodeedd with those type of rappers. maybe tie in a point about why its counter , "mumble rap" IS succeeding right now.

    When I was in my teens I remember when a guy I worked with from Brooklyn told me he used to see 2Pac in Bed Stuy with all of his ice on. Who knows what really went down but what I do know is that NY didn't do right by 2Pac.

  • @urbanflavorz
    @urbanflavorz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Its a smoking mirror, Puffy had nothing to do with the setup. it was Jimmy Henchman, he called Pac to do the verse and Pac cussed him out cuz he wanted his money. The shooter already came out with a book.

    • @kadeemmajor2599
      @kadeemmajor2599 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      urbanflavorz The black mafia was funding bad boy and they dont know who biggie was at that time because he wasn't out yet, so they wanted puffy to sign tupac. Tupac turn him down so puffy got henchmen to get pac to sign he turn him down(around the same time suge and eazy e offer pac a deal to there labels and turn them down too) after turning down henchmen he sent H. Jack to befriend pac to gave him money and jewelry while he was filming above the rim in ny of 93. Fast forward to the night pac got arrested for the rape charge, H. Jack also got arrested but was a informant so he lie on pac to save his self. Pac's lawyers got wind of this and told him(you know and I know pac doesn't hold back from speaking his mind) after court he went to one of the news camera's and vented about everything call out puffy for have criminals running his company and H. Jack being a snitch. That's why pac was shoot at the studio in 94.

    • @urbanflavorz
      @urbanflavorz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      some of your facts are incorrect. Pac was already signed to Interscope he wasn't going to sign to Eazy-E he was about to sign his group Thug Life to ruthless. Puff dind't send henchman to sign Pac, Henchman was working with Uptown and had his artist Lil Shawn signed to them. Pac wasn't even dealing with Henchman he was friends with Haitian Jack. H Jack didn't lie on pac, he never went to trial and they dropped the charges so Pac thought that was suspicious and said he was a snitch in the new york daily news. H Jack had nothing to do with the shooting and robbery.

    • @kadeemmajor2599
      @kadeemmajor2599 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      no your wrong signing thug life is the same thing as signing pac because without him nobody gives a fuck about thug life and pac wanted biggie to join the group. Puffy did send Henchmen to see if he could get pac to sign with them and they(puffy and henchmen have connections to the black mafia) also they were doing business with one another. A other point wrong pac was not friends with H. Jack Stretch knew him and introduce pac to him while filming the movie above the rim and didn't go to trial because he was a informant and no his lawyers found out about H. Jack and told pac and henchmen and H. Jack were business associates working with each other to sign artists to manage them

    • @urbanflavorz
      @urbanflavorz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Again they were going to sign Thug Life so now you agree on that. Nobody is arguing the fact that Thug Life was nothing without Tupac. You are now creating your own argument after being wrong. Tupac had already signed to Interscope. So again Puffy could not and was not going to sign him. If anything Tupac wanted to sign Biggie to Thug Life group.
      2. Yes he met Jack during the filming and was with him EVERYDAY while in New york. Both Tupac and Jack said this. So they were friends during this time. They were with each other during the rape incidence. They were joined by the hip. Jack introduced him to Madonna. When he went to Atlanta jack went with him up until the verdict. You are confusing Jack with Henchman. Henchman was Big Stretch's man. Thats why Pac felt like Stretch was part of the setup.

    • @kadeemmajor2599
      @kadeemmajor2599 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BOY! go do your research before you try to comeback at someone. Thug life was a brand and PAC was the man behind it, they wanted to sign him no one cared about anyone else in that fucking group. You started that point of the argument when I was trying to clarify what I meant. How the fuck could H. Jack introduced him to Madonna when he only meet her once, and no I'm talking about stretch and h.jack they knew each other they weren't even friends he just introduced him to PAC and he thought he was a real street dude so he hung out with him while filming the movie. There's an interview were PAC said puffy try to sign him when he was in jail doing a couple of days in jail for something. You can always sign people who are under contract with other people by buy out the contract from that company

    Legal cases are always interesting in hip hop. Outta curiosity, anyone know what the final result of that Mac miller prosecution over that sample usage from the old school rapper on a fuckin' mixtape? My assumption is he paid a settlement out of court. Reason I'm curious is bc/ that law suit could've potentially changed the way mixtape beat samples are cleared, but essentially a mixtape is a non commercial release, so I think there's a solid defense there.

    Justin son.Howz things.This is a great Breakdown. I always thought Jimmys (don't call him henchman,as Vlad found out) case stunk.Jimmy was one of the last Hip Hop moguls who portrayed that Gangsta persona and I think that the Feds just wanted them all out of the way.Suge did their work for them and J Prince had a lot of legal shit which he beat.Same with the Gotti brothers.Puffy was left alone because he was an unthreatening black man. The Tupac shit was a gift and a curse.It bought him notoriety as well as a reason to be considered a King Pin.He still has a long way to go though.As he said in the Vlad interview " one battle at a time " I truly hope he beats the whole King Pin shit.I look at America and it makes me want to weep Obama is releasing record number of prisoners but there is nearly 2 million people locked up.He knows that the money and the power behind the private prison industrial complex is too much to fuck with.He would need both sides of the houses to come together and that and that is never happeningEven with out the money onvolved.Crooked Hillary or Fucking Bush sure ain't gonna do nothing.It just shows how little has changed.Thanks for another great Breakdown broth.See ya next week.Check out my comment on your last week BD.I would be interested to see what you think.Keep up the great work. How's ya leg by the way?
