49:30 I'm mostly watching your podcast with my children, so I really appreciate you blurring out the essential parts in the interview with this woman, really considerate.
The feeling of someone not understanding your jokes is of disconnect, with your surroundings and yourself, if it gets to the point of making you question your actions and ways of communicating. I've felt loneliness because of it plenty of times. This podcast has been a blessing. Also, you can see how relaxed Sam is around Rick, and how much he likes Rick. A joy to watch.
I was the “you da man Rick!” from the Chicago show. You’ve been killing the pod game for a while and I’m happy to confirm you treat the stage the same way. RICK RICK RICK
Rick on First Date was wild. Lauren couldn’t keep up at all. Mad frustrating for a “comedian” to not understand any joke a comedian is THROWING at them.
I know, I was so frustrated she wasn't catching anything. Bc (IMO) she's not a comedian at all, she's just a pretty woman who can bring views to their channel. I want to like her a lot, but I can't.
She's an embarrassment for women in comedy, or women who are fans of comedy. She's gotten it this far bc boobs. Imagine a male comic getting success from a 6 pack or his package.
In the ER right now observing possible miscarriage for my 7 week pregnancy and I couldn’t do it without you guys 🥲 thanks for being here with me and for having very contextually relatable content for your sad girl over here 😂 saddest baby shower indeed

Unfortunately I can relate, was a few months ago and id just rewatch episodes of this and Taylor Tomlinson stuff and OneyPlays but that’s a lil different
52:00 Rick when I first saw you I was one of the ones that "didn't like you." Until I gave you an honest chance by watching and listening to your comedy... I gave it an effort and you are now at least my top 1-3 comics today. You are super funny and very smart. I don't have a great answer as to why some may "hate" you but you can rest assured very few of those people have given your work an honest chance. Much love to everyone ❤️
Rick, I found you and your podcast like 2 years ago on accident because I thought you were David Angelo, and I was like, "hey I saw that guy on tv, I'll check out this podcast." It was you Rick. This podcast. I haven't stopped tunning in since. It's kinda like my therapy time when i listen to the pod. Thanks Rick. Oh and your funnier than David
Hi Rick, You’ve made my journey with Autism much lighter and easier to process. I am so grateful for the grace you’ve given yourself, so that you may acquire the understanding needed to make the changes you know you can for yourself. I’m overall very excited for your growth, and in turn, that has made me excited about my growth. Thank you again Rick, you’re changing the world one witty statement at a time ❤
Rick I adore you! The first episode I saw you on Tiger belly 3 years ago I was very confused by you but then I watched your show and I get it! Been here ever since
I hope you'll continue doing other ppls podcasts, Rick! It gives us a different dynamic, feels like you're more inclined to be extra goofy when not having to be producer Rick at the same time and it's lovely. Bobby Kelly didn't get you at first but you both got to a place of understanding and then look at your guest spot on his pod -- hilarious!!!
I came to the late show Saturday night and it was so surreal seeing you live after watching the pod for so long! I’m still starstruck over the fact that you *almost* kissed my hand 🤩 I was already shocked it happened, but to now see it in the commercial for your upcoming shows is an even bigger shock and I’m so happy to now have a video of my favorite moment 😍 Thank you for an unforgettable night, we can’t wait to get front row seats again when you release more shows that are closer🤞🏻🥰 and boy are my arms tired from typing all of that!
Rick, There aren't many clips of you doing prepared standup that I've found online, especially videos from recent years, why is that? I like so many others really love your podcast and commend the obvious effort and somewhat neurotic passion that you and your team exert in each upload. I really look forward to the variety of conversations you get into whether they're extremely playful or vulnerable, even the inside baseball entertainment convos that you try to make relatable to the layman, and in particular I connect with your loving family as that wasn't my personal experience growing up. Hearing you talk about your love, your struggle, and your confidence with standup has somewhat painted a picture of you as a live performer in conjunction with clips you've interwoven on the podcast and videos I've seen online. I haven't had the pleasure to see you perform in person, but I would very much love to see you in that element as a longtime fan of Rick the podcaster. I know you have big plans for "specials" and given the individuality and creativity of your podcast I'm sure they will come from the same place whenever you eventually pursue them. I just wanted to say I hope you pursue them sooner than later, and I hope to see more videos that showcase the different ways you explore comedy because I find your voice very refreshing in this space whether from the podcast chair or the stage. Wishing you the best!
Rick sad to not be seeing you more often on other pods in the future. Your eps on Bad Friends and TB are some of the hardest times I've ever laughed!! Love the pod and will be buying tix next time you can make it to brea.
YES finally someone shits on First Date, my god when I see how many views that podcast gets I say "art is dead" out loud and break one of my guitars. It's super immature and unenlightened of me but I can't help it and it makes me like Tom Segura less for it.
I love YMH, but I hate First Date. Lauren Compton is the epitome of a dumb blonde joke. It blows my mind how prudish she can be, hosting a dating podcast with comedians. Even the format of the show sucks, with appetizer questions, dessert questions, etc. She literally only has the show because she’s a traditionally hot girl.
Fargo IS a perfect movie. Definitely my favorite movie of all-time. Fast paced, dark, hilarious, amazing acting, and killer in-depth plot. Coen brothers are the best
This was super insightful! Love ya to death Rick. Was just mentioning to Adam Ray about how you got tore up in the comments of the Dr. Phil ep, but you were brilliant and so funny! People love to hate things before they try to understand them. Just be yourself and try to ignore the dumb comments, they are not the majority!
Rick you're so genuine on your podcast and that's why I love it, and you. I found you through Bad Friends and I'll be honest -- didn't get it at first. I didn't immediately see the genuine side of you that makes you so likeable, and it feels like that's the piece some people are missing at first glance. You come in really hot with (hilarious) jokes and maybe the new audience doesn't trust you yet. For whatever my random opinions are worth. Please come to Denver, can't wait to see you live!
I get so annoyed when I hear comedians talk about how negative comments hurt their feelings because I wanna go fight these assholes that are leaving the comments. I feel like people are talkin shit about my friends and I need to protect them. But all I can do is try to balance it out by saying Rick, I love your comedic choices and when you split a room with a weird joke it just makes me love you more. Keep takin risks that alienate the idiots that don't get it cuz fuck them, if they're the kind of people that leave hateful comments we don't want them in this club anyway. And THAT'S STREET BALL.
I've found that most people with childhood trauma don't want love; in fact, we're usually terrified & repulsed by it. That's what you get after growing up without real love...
Rick isnso right, amazing comment sections for the most part. I think your fans are a mirror to yourself. I will likely watch every movie rec Sam and Rick gave. Watched "Chef" last night and so enjoyed it. Sam is such a cinephile, I would trust a rec from him or Marc Maron.
Fun fact: Chef is actually a movie about Favreau making Iron Man 2 as an artist and the studio constantly beating him down and having to rediscover his love of film. It's like a love letter to filmmaking. Love Chef also because absent dad upbringing, but rewatching it knowing that hits even more.
Great Episode! Your AGT idea remind me alot of older Albert Brooks bits he used to do on old late night shows. PS Everthing's copy is Nora Ephron, incredible writer/director!
Great episode. Sam's the man and I had a friend growing up named Sarah Rottenberg. Rick - I've seen some of the feedback you mentioned. I consider it like Monty Python humor. Some people get it and love it and the one's that don't are fucking stupid. Keep doing your thing cuz you are one creative and smart and funny dude!

Lmao omg the First Date reference made my year! I always felt Rick deserved so much more laughter there. Bless your heart Rick!
The best part is Compton will probably not get the first date podcast bit. Lmao
I'm not sure it's even edited, that was basically how his episode went lmao
She's unwatchable with sound
Didn’t she start as a comedian? Idk much about her. How do you not pick up on what he was laying down as comedians? Regarded
That part was absolute gold.
Unless she's doing a bit of being a stupid person. Playing 3D chess on us
