    After 10 years in Berlin we moved to a Greek Island last year. A new life in nature close to the sea. We restored a house, started a vegetable garden, kid in school ... our personal "great reset" I used to call it. I thought about creating a channel/vlog about the new Greek Island life but opted for other adventures (first).
    Daniel, those job ads you get (I get them too) are for companies that manage the customer service operations for multinationals. Microsoft, Apple, Mercedes, Miele, PayPal etc. They pay around 800EUR/1000EUR net for a 40h/week position depending on which language(s) you can work in. Some positions are semi-remote and let you work anywhere in Greece.
    Have a nice day all! 🙏

    I’m a Canadian with Greek decent and vacationing and living in Greece are two very distinct differences and agree with your commentary. My parents came to Canada for a better life and decided that they would return at some point with their family. They experienced culture shock after being away for over a decade. It’s not as easy as many people think to establish themselves in a foreign country, it takes time, being open minded and a lot of flexibility.

    well said Daniel! I think you exemplify the best way to assimilate; learn the language and culture and adopt them both; do not expect the natives to change for you

    I worked in Sifnos for 3 years summer and winter. I absolutely loved it. But I understand not everyone does. Maybe because I am Greek and speak Greek. I now live in Australia and I would love to live at at an island again at some point of my life. I like your videos Daniel. Enjoy! Dimitra

    Love this video and comments. Greece is so vast and different depending on location. I agree with all your comments. My husband from βουτιανι , truly a simple life and village. I love that lifestyle, simple and unrushed. Our next trip to Greece, I hope to see Nafplio.

    I live on one of the islands and its about 2-3 thousand people in the winter and 50 thousand people pass thru in the summer. Its like living to a different country every year but you never moved.

    So, what is the cost of living? You don't mention any numbers?

    • @whisperingwind7465
      @whisperingwind7465 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For a single person around 600-950EUR per month (without rent). Family of 4 around 2000-2500EUR excluding rent again. This is not set in stone of course, depends on many internal and external factors. What living standard do you (want to) have? Where do you want to live? The average income in Greece is low if we compare it to other EU countries. I read it's around 27000EUR/year.

    You are right how you start to think in the way of locals when you live in a different country for so long. It can be both an asset and a great cost depending on where you are and how you want to think

      They are a brand called Maui Jim, the model he is wearing is the "lighthouse". I have some ( a different model) that are 13 years old, they held up well, had a young family member sit on them by mistake and they got crushed and lenses popped out.... I was able to bend them back to normal and pop the lenses back in, which is awesome. I managed to put a nasty scratch in them at year 12 so now they are my "glove box spares" in the car lol.

    According to me, the first thing you have to do, important, is to become a Malaka.
    This is not negative as you think, it has to be expressed with a heartly tone.
