    It's a crime that George MacKay didn't get an Oscar nomination for his work in this. The physical demands alone should have earned him a medal. Everyone involved deserves thanks for this stunning and beautiful work of cinematic art.

    • @LeventeZone
      @LeventeZone 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@ErickGarcia-qs2yh Indeed. Plus the fact that Newman created & inhabits a completely different sound world. Many imitated him, but he pretty much authored this phenomenal kind of soundtrack music where there is a lot of sonic and harmonic amibuity, then subtle, achingly delicate beautiful little motifs emerge... and develop into something nobody could predict. 1917 is another perfect example of that, and tracks like the final Come Back To Us are showing him at his absolute stunning finest. It is incredibly emotional without being in-your-face. Williams is always much more "tangible", he often resorts to highly traditional arrangements and textures, whilst Newman ventures out into an almost translucent sound world - we often don't even notice that he is there, with his music, and 1917 is again good example of that in several scenes.

    The sad part about this movie is the realization that from this hellacious war, the leaders of the world failed to create a meaningful peace that would rehabilitate the world, and instead they chose to act like children and put sole blame for the war on Germany’s hands and punish them too severely. So these men essentially died not even fighting in the war to end all wars. It’s truly heartbreaking to think about it with that in mind.

    It's sad that you didn't used "The Night Window" or "Sixteen Hundred Men" in your composition, even if it's not in the same mood, they're the two most beautiful tracks of 1917's OST in my opinion!

    Oh Mighty Lord, May You Protect Us from evildoers and Evil. May You Bless all those soldiers who sacrificed their lives to save others and May You Eternally Bless those who endured while others rejoiced in glory. Let Not their memories be forgotten, for the sake of Humankind and to show new generations what should never happen again.
