Thanks. I did my 3 burner forge outdoors because of fumes...also, I did my ceramic blanket in place instead of removing it and wrestling it back in there. I just made sure it was well saturated. Once it's set in 24 hours, I plan to apply a coat of the ITC-100 HT refractive coating, which I hope will even out the heat, but also an additional protective coating to extend the life of my forge.
I just read the first parts of the instructions and saw this video. I do not recall anyone else mentioning the premoistening the fiber mat (with just water) that is clearly part of the (most recent) directions. The rigidizer certainly looks well distributed. I will take your advise and wear long sleeves and maybe also tape the cuffs down at the gloves to avoid irritation of my arms/skin.
@@HairByAriiianna Thank you. It did go well. No contact with untreated or uncured materials. The coating has not cracked significantly with a few uses. I have been using it at higher temps (gas pressure up to 5 to 8 psi so far) that heat the metal to what seem like a forging temp. I think i am heating at the low end so far, and will go higher tomorrow (later today: it is 1:33 AM).
I applied rigidiser, then satanite, now i've just read you should really also apply ITC 100 HT, which costs 100 bucks per pint here in the UK ! Apparently it means it reaches high temperatures more quickly, and it can take up to 5000 degrees. I guess if it reaches temps more quickly then it'll save on propane in the long run.
Breathing sounds like you were going to say, "Luke I am your father". I just bought one and find your video is very helpful. I did weld around the burner tube insert. I have some have had problems with spot wielding.
It would be much easier to get the insulation into the forge housing, if you wrapped the insulation around a pipe then wrapped a stiff paper around the insulation then inserted this into the housing. Next you remove the paper then the insulation can more easily be positioned.
Thanks for this video, I just got one myself for my birthday!! Your struggles are worth it, you taught me a few important things, thanks☺️

Genius, wish I would have thought about that. It was a pain and I got fiberglass burns on my forearms😂
Okay, so I just got the rigidizer (8oz) how soaked would you say the fiber needs to be?
maybe pump up weed sprayer
Yessssuhhhhhh
