Greetings from Finland. These got their inspiration from traditional wooden cups called kuksa (guksi in English?) used by the Sámi people in Lapland. My first experience with Kupilka was over a decade ago when I got small cup as a company present. At first I thought, oh yeah, a kuksa, I've always wanted one. I was a bit underwhelmed when I soon discovered it's not carved out of wood. Molded plastic seemed almost like an insult towards such a traditional item. Years later I heard Kupilka products are highly rated also outside of Finland. The idea has grown on me and I like the look and feel. I still prefer more lightweight stuff for backpacking, but I occasionally use a Kupilka spork instead of a titanium one.
I have two of these. You can speed up that pátina process by using oil on a towel. Wipe off the excess. I love having a handle on the bowl. Dexterity issues; I have MS. Truly a great product.

I have used these for several years, and feel they are well made, and hold up well. I have the larger cup, small plate, and large plate. When backpacking, and hiking, I almost always have the cup. The plates are generally in use when I am camping, as I typically use dehydrated meals when backpacking, and can eat right from the pouch.

It allows you to hold the cup in more than one position. What ever is comfortable for you. They do feel different. The cup does get warm, but it’s never been hot. The large cup is versatile and can hold coffee, soup or any hot or cold liquid. I highly recommend them.
Ernie I agree. All your colors should match and the original color is the best. These really are good products. They hold up well and they are a bit more knife edge friendly than a metal plate when you are cutting up food. I will say I managed to melt the edge of my spoon in a hot pan with hot bacon grease and I had to sand the edge down with some fine sandpaper so be careful. They say they are dishwasher friendly, but I tent to hand wash them. When.they are new they kinda have a cool pine woodsy smell to them, but that goes away over time. I would recommend them.
Watching this at a year after, and I agree. I have the large cup, bowl, and platter. I’ve used the bowl and cup for both hot and cold meals, no issues at all. The cup holds a decent amount of heat in, much better than a metal cup. I have had wooden kuksa crack after some time when having very hot liquids in them. This one is still in perfect shape after many seasons.
The black sheep in the kulpilka family lol. Yeah I'd go with the OCD 🤣 and get a matching set. I have the large cup, spork and bowl 🥣 they are convenient

I have quite a lot of these. My favourites are the large cup, bowl, and cutlery set. The wife and daughters got them for me for Xmas. Love them. I don’t think I will go back any thing else.
Hi Bernie, I use several of the Kupilka products since years. Even if they look a bit weird at first sight they seem to have the optimal proportions for their intended usage. I also like the look and feel of the material! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

I picked up a cup, bowl, plate, spoon, knifr, fork. I use the spoon, fork, bowl. Small cup was too small for me. Plate came with me for a while, but i never used it. I edc a Buck 112, its all i have needed for camping. I am satisfied with the quality of these products, and i do not have any plans to replace any of them. Maybe a bigger cup. The large platter looks good for some upcomming Coffee Spit cooks id like to do this fall/winter.
I'm a big fan of my Kupilka kit, it gives every bit of the feeling of using traditional wooden tableware but you get the added durability and temperature tolerance of the plastic, I have both platters, the bowl, both cups, the "shot glass" and a knife, fork, and two different sizes of spoon, great stuff

Add you a paradors wrap off the end of the handle w a barbell toggle…can hang it easily from a tree or anywhere….very cool mixture of resin and pine I believe…lol….and btw,just told someone the other day…wanna create the perfect Prepper?? Introduce prepping to someone who’s OCD! 😂
I have the 12oz Kuksa, Large platter, and Large bowl. I just received them for this fall's camping season. I can't wait to use them. There's something about a handle on a bowl that appeals to me. Less "fumbly" I guess. I got the platter with the idea of cutting on it since I hate cutting on my stainless MSR dishes and bowls. Looks like I "need" the long spork and the small platter now that you showed them. The small platter will help with camp food prep (holding cut up veggies, etc.). Welcome back Ernie! Doc Ernie, personally I 'always' eat from the container I boil/cook in, why carry added ounces when a titanium pot does the same thing, I'm a firm believer in the 'thru-hiker' saying "If it's made of metal get rid of it" except for my titanium pot and long handled 'polished' bowl spoon all the rest I don't carry because I don't need to.
I have the large cup, platter, bowl and cutlery set, all in cranberry. I like them a lot, been using them for 3 or 4 years. I did get the large cup too close to my Esbit coffee maker. It now sports a rather large burnt spot. But it is still holding up well, gives it character…well, not really, but it still works!

They're a better, more sustainable alternative but awkward sizes (the plate is tiny, the cup is either too small or gigantic and only practical for soup). The deep bowl and fork/spoon combi are great, but everything is bulky and heavy. It makes a nice, more environmentally friendly setup for car camping, aestethically pleasing too but absolutely not for hikers.
I have the large and small cup ,a the plater but referan from metal knives they scare the bottom. Instead use the knife on the utensil set or quality plastic
Interesting idea. Like yourself, I don't care for metal and plastic. I have some pressed bamboo plates at the moment but they are a bit thin. I may have to get a plate and see how it works. What about nesting them together in a kit?
I have not used these products, though they look lovely! Subsequent to having lots of kids AND inheriting great-grandparents' old camping dishes, we have a surfeit of small plastic bowls that we use camping. So I will likely never purchase another dish for backpacking or camping.
I don't get the feel from the video.. usually eat from my cooking pot, and bring a small spoon. But I assume when i hold them and touch them I'd get it.
The mugs also isolate a lot more then titanium/steel/aluminium. I also like that my lightweight coffee filter (GSI ultralight Java dripper) clips on nicely
I wish they had just a long-handled spoon -- like the Ti ones you can buy to make eating dehydrated meals easier. I don't really care for the double-ended design of this spork.

I’ve used Kupilka sporks for years, and the large kuksa and bowl make great camp eating and drinking tools.

Yes, Kupilka has a 225mm long spork. Kupilka dishware can withstand boiling hot water and cold temperatures as -30˚C.
