The way he stands still for like the first half of the song gives me such an unsettling feeling for some reason

That's what I remember, seeing him doing it on SNL. The next day everyone was talking about a video and I'm thinking it's the SNL performance. Seen the video and was like this is on another level all together. I liked the SNL performance though, the lyrics and his performance were incredible. Hell he was incredible period the whole night.

Well they had to eventually. They are only allowed to have music performances on their TH-cam channel for a limited amount of time due to licensing issues.

Thanks for uploading this, was trying to find it. I remember when this dropped and watching the video over and over until the studio version came out. The lights starting at 2:46 were insane.
The lights were done by Adam LaBay, a real beast on this field.
And there is a video from Tom Scott ("Stopping A Laser Beam In Mid-Air") were they show how to make something similar (but at very smaller scale).

Can't ignore that, after the beat drops, the lighting cue is intentionally Cherries-n-Berries. As someone who has had a dissociative panic attack in the back of a squad car with those reds and blues clicking endlessly, it can't be missed.

Crazy how Drake ended this man's career when he found out it was supposed to be a diss
I’m not a hater. But I have to point this out, this is not Childish Gambino‘s most lyrical song, but it came at a time when racial tensions were boiling up pre- BLM. So this was that cultural glue through music that really spoke a certain message, although I will admit it’s not really clear, what the message is aside from setting some vibes.
I want to challenge everybody to analyze what is being talked about, although I understand, just like Michael Jackson’s thriller, this song has many elements musically through African culture that really emphasize its significance. But again lyrically not much is being said, and it’s repetitive. In conclusion, I’m not a hater, I’m just challenging you guys in the messages.
