Brighton Rock were promoted big time in Canada and appeared on cbc video hits and Much Music .They had top 40 hits in Canada and played the Canadian club circuit. In Canada they received pretty good radio airplay but in usa, Europe and Asia it was a different story though they toured there they did not receive promotion or press hence they are another Canadian band well known in Canada only .

I love this band SOOOO much!!! And when I wear the the Brighton Rock tee I bought on-line a year ago, I make sure I educate everyone who asks how fantastically talented this band from Ontario is! 💗
My daughter took 2 years of fashion at school in Toronto, I said to her ' Ooooh you BETTER KNOW then who Monika is then or I'll kick yr a**!! 😉👍👍💓

Even 25+ years after listening to Brighton Rock, it still ROCKS! I just thought of them and looked them up here. Still amazing as back when this was brand new. Such a shame that they didn't get the breakout that they deserved.

This is one of the best songs about a painful breakup ever, but it remains hopeful "Just Forgive And Forget Cos It's Not Over Yet." I have loved this song for many years now, but at the time I never heard Brighton Rock. In America they were largely unnoticed an unfortunately and shamefully common scenario for Canadian bands. Brighton Rock are real. This is a really classic song and their albums are brilliant and have some great lyrics from Gerald McGhee

I bought tickets for a show by Brighton Rock in 1991. Drove from NY to Canada to see them expecting the show to be in an arena. I couldn’t believe they were playing a tiny bar. Totally shocked that they weren’t huge in Canada. Met the whole band. All great guys. And they played an incredible set.

After a crazy breakup, I asked for one more try…. I couldn’t understand the things she did to me because they were not right.
This song really hits. Especially when she came back, asking for that another try, but I just did not have it in me.
    Thanks Mark

Can't believe this is on TH-cam! Holy Cow. I met these guys when they were signing autographs at a record store in Sydney NS. I still have the photos.
I remember being all mad at the time because I coudln't go see them play. They were playing at a bar and I wasn't old enough to go. lol. I did get to meet them anyway.
I remember the one guy (I think he's the bass player) with the BIG hair was just a complete sweetheart.

I remember growing up in the 80s, working one late night at Fortinos in Hamilton getting myself through school , and these guys run full speed into Fortinos as we are getting ready to lock the doors. They had their signature wardrobe on as they were just done a concert in Hamilton that I couldn't go to. They had just released their Young Wild and Free album which I still have. I'm telling you it was absolutely surreal to see these guys running down an isle laughing and goofing around as they were asking me where we kept the ice "but like a shit ton of it" . They were all super friendly and nice . As I walked up to the front Mark wearing his signature cartoon pants, the same ones on the album cover and Greg both thanked me again for not locking them out lol. Sounds silly but that moment stuck with me my whole life. I didn't even get to see what they rolled up in, they wee gone in an instant.

Você sabe o quanto eu me importava
Sim, vou ter que encarar isso
    Porque eu continuo segurando
Por algo que não está aqui
    Mais uma vez
    Apenas perdoe e esqueça
    Porque ainda não acabou, oh
    Mais uma vez
Apenas não jogue fora o amor
    (Solo)
    Mesmo nas noites mais sombrias
Eu te segurei ao meu lado
    É fácil quando tentamos
É tão difícil se controlar por dentro
    Quero contar a todos
Não tenho mais nada a esconder, oh
Sim, não me faça odiar você
Desde que você deu uma patada
    De tantas maneiras, sim
    Mais uma vez
    Apenas perdoe e esqueça
    Porque ainda não acabou, oh
    Mais uma vez
Apenas não jogue fora o amor
    Mais uma vez
    Apenas perdoe e esqueça
Porque ainda não acabou, oh, oh
    Mais uma vez
    Não afaste o amor
    Whoa, oh, oh, oh
    Whoa, oh, oh
    Uau
    Mais uma vez
    Não afaste o amor

@DannyelBonJovi The bands of today don't hold a candle to the bands of the 70's and 80's!! Like our parents said that the 50's and 60's were a special time for music, well so was the 70's and 80's for anyone who was born in the early 70's like myself!

Gerry was such an unbelievable singer. Oddly, had he been from the USA, he likely would have made it huge. It's so hard for Canadian bands, especially back in the 80s. Brighton Rock was a great band. I saw them open for BTO on St. Joseph Island, Ontario, 1990. They were ten times better than BTO.
Side note - I just happened to be at the local gas station / store a couple hours before the show and the band was there getting gas and ice cream... travelling in a shitty old station wagon. That explains what I said in the above paragraph. Sad, but true.

I played in a band with "Carkie" just before Brighton Rock was formed. Next time you see your uncle Markie, tell him that "Farogandy" says he's still: "Markie...Goddess of Love". Betcha he laughs. Say hi to Uncle Perry & your dad for me too. Uncle Perry & I went to grade school together. Many hours were spent listening to records at your granddad's house back in the 70's.

    How can I understand
All those things that you do to me
    When I just don't think it's right
When I look into your eyes
I gotta run away from them
'Cause I just can't win this fight, no
Ooh, I can't seem to reach you
    But you're gonna hear
    What I've got to say
    One more try
    Just forgive and forget
'Cause it's not over yet, oh
    One more try
    Just don't throw love away
Tell me that you didn't mean
All those things that you said to me
Spoke your mind but not your heart
    Back when everything was alright
    I stopped you from fallin'
You know how much I cared
Yeah, I'm gonna have to face it
    'Cause I keep holdin' on
    To something that's not there
    One more try
    Just forgive and forget
'Cause it's not over yet, oh
    One more try
    Just don't throw love away
    Even in the darkest nights
    I held you beside me
It was easy when we tried
It's so hard to keep inside
    I wanna tell everybody
I've got nothing left to hide, oh
Yeah, please don't make me hate you
    Since you've kicked around
In oh so many ways, yes
    One more try
    Just forgive and forget
'Cause it's not over yet, oh
    One more try
    Just don't throw love away
    One more try
    Just forgive and forget
'Cause it's not over yet, oh, oh
    One more try
    Don't throw love away
    Whoa, oh, oh, oh
    Whoa, oh, oh
    Whoa
    One more try
    Don't throw love away

Great band from Toronto Canada. They should have made it big. I'm familiar with how the Canadian music industry works and through the Canadian content laws just about every band there was and is got ripped off and left for dead by a very isolationist industry. Canada isn't an isolating place very welcoming so it's the polar opposite of that. However, the music industry worldwide has always been corrupted so this is a sad paradoxical trend in Canada. I sing and Gerald Mghee is an influence. A big one. We have grunge to blame for Brighton Rock's failure, but also certain musicians said a whole bunch of stupid shit about them back in the day namely a lot of Iron Maiden and their connected brain dead never had a brain brethren.
