Pastrana’s track layout in 09’ is probably my favorite track. Was completely different & seemed like there wasn’t only 1 one fast line. Wish SMX would bring back the ‘guest designed’ tracks. 2 for each coast
Love the guests you have on your show, but there's always a top 10% like Justin that are just amazing. The way he articulates even makes a slow rider like me understand and appreciate their level.
They’ve gotten too soft. Supercross should have harder dirt. Speed doesn’t make riders crash. Height. Technical. None of it. What fucks up riders is when the dirt breaks down and starts getting edges the riders can’t anticipate. We all deal with it. They just do it as a faster speed.
@ I’m from Indiana. Live about 2 hours north of Indy. The dirt around here is wild. It changes drastically from sandy about a 100 miles from the lake heading south, to all of a sudden more clay and rocky. It’s super soft. It turns into jelly, it gets frozen with a bunch of moisture in it, and the track breaks down crazy fast with no traction.
It’s definitely not my era (86, 87, 88)… although they weren’t the same obstacles cookie cutter every weekend, they were a miss mash of shit that didn’t flow. 😂😂 So maybe that was good?
All one line tracks now... Go back to 2000 to 2015 ..the tracks were so technical with so many different line choices and it showed with how good the races were.
Idk bout SX but I loved amateur mx in the early 2000s. We had gnarly gaps with real consequences at every track. Jumps were a legit separator back then
Then you go back to the 80s and wonder what happened to a lot of those obstacles. I remember when everyone back then was asking that the tracks be toned down.
I feel supercross should have all this stuff in the tracks. Hard dirt, sand Adobe dirt and a water section. Put the drffrent soils in sections so that the best all around racer wins. If I ran a big team. My practice compound would have tracks like this. So if it rains we are ready. If it's all hard pack we are ready. If it's sandy or loose we are ready as can be. I feel doing that will teach my guys better balance, throttle control . That will improve the development of each guys top potential and showcase there talents quicker. The flip side of that. They have a greater possibility of getting hurt practicing. But I give these guys more credit than for that to happen.
What all tracks have in common are Exposed Plywood, plywood overlapping exposed edges. no dirt on anything. Exposed concrete flooring. no dirt or anything. Boats, quads on tracks. Perhaps the reader recalls RC in c.2006 going off track and almost hitting a boat. It has been a few years since I saw boats etc on track. but it goes to the mentality of promoters and track prep. Remember Roczen going off track and onto Many sheets of plywood, all edges exposed. The rudely slammed into huge packing boxes and fell.... he could have damaged those boxes. Perchance you recall Webb landing on his back on bare concrete? Or Forkner he did it too. This nonsense has gone on forever. Forever. These are just 3 real Ancient dangerous issues.
They have made sx tracks so much easier the last 3 yrs , it’s made racing the tracks easier , they say it’s for safety , but it’s to get euro guys over here since they are so outspoken about the whoops and the dragons backs being to hard 😢 lol
You can't get much more real or honest than Justin Hill.

Every track should have 12+ whoops, dragons back, and a over under tunnel jump.
Or at least two 9 whoop sections back to back. 😂
This is sooo accurate. Bring back the good days!
Justin hill for lead track designer and on site build foreman!
2011-2014 had the best track layouts

If the current track designers had free rein over the design of the tracks I promise you tracks would be gnarlier and better. It’s all politics. 👍🏻
I agree 2014 I watch every year lol I’d say 2007-14 the tracks were so much better

You get it. Now if only feld would understand this. Indy sx sucks with all the deep ass ruts.

Don't think SX should be a Video game.. to have racing you need racers
Carmichael ,Reed ,Bubba, era …,bubba, Villopoto Dungee, …. Tomac battles with Dungee…. All of those tracks were gnarly. The ones now are just lacking

Tracks are cool between 87 and 2015 ! Todays Tracks looks boring!

Any era but now. More boring races than good ones now.
Tracks have gotten repetitive in the dry and when it rains you wanna cancel it why even have dirt bikes if that's the case

Dont forget about Dean Wilson puncturing his but.
Mid 80's to mid 90's
They have to make the tracks easier for jet Lawrence or his family will cry
Oh shit, shots fired!

Yup. Before it was always Decoster crying about it because Marv couldn’t skim

Bro if the tracks were harder Jett would be even further ahead.
2009 St. Louis….. not even close
