    This is the best practical setup for any professional mechanic. The truth is, you dont need a million different types of ratchets and 50 battery / pneumatic tools to get the job done. The majority of your time as a mechanic will be diagnosis and research.

      I tell everyone coming into the business and even some that’s been around for a while, learn diagnostics, drive ability and electrical that’s where you write your own ticket. You become invaluable to shops if you can do that stuff. I’ve met so many techs that don’t even know how to use a scope and that’s one of my favorite tools to use. Thank you for checking out the video. I totally agree that you don’t need huge drawers full of sockets to do the job, lots of times the basics go a long way.

    • @devoncoolman88
      @devoncoolman88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Specialty sockets like swivel sets and what not just make the job go faster and easier. The amount of tools you need also depends on the work and variety of jobs you perform. Me i do everything from changing oil to rebuilding differentials and major engine repair. So all sorts of different torque wrenches, dial indicators, specialty tools and precision measuring equipment are all needed.

      Definitely agree buddy, I know a guy that’s a Nissan tech and he literally has a 1 bay 8 or 9 drawer box with the stuff he needs to do Nissans. Totally agree the tools depend on the job your doing. When I was a Porsche tech I had to pick up a few tools I didn’t have like spline drives etc. Another reason why I like seeing people’s toolbox tours is just seeing the variety of tools people have, really enjoy it.

      I wouldn't consider Swivel's and Wobbles gimmicky at all, tools that are gimmicky are tools that are inferior to their simple version. For example, Passthrough sockets, 10 in 1 screw drivers, gearless ratchets, Dual head ratchets, Offset ratcheting wrenches (normal ratcheting wrenches are fine but the offset ones are rarely used and very bulky)

    Very awesome setup my friend and congrats on ur big box. I am going to get a roll cart like ur blue one but a US general series 2 and have that for my main electrical and diag stuff. So much electrical stuff that I am getting irritated I gotta pull couple stuff out just to get one thing. Just a dedicated roll cart big enough for all my electrical stuff and scanners and be more efficient and quicker. Diag is where it's going to be. Just like u said in ur last comments. No disrespect to noone but even people with no education or not knowing how to turn a wrench can flip to TH-cam and type replace this part and there u have it 1,2,3. I wish I can just diag and do electrical stuff all day and pretty soon I will once I get everything I need to be independent because really I am so bored of changing parts. It's not fun anymore.

    • @helmandollarautodiagnostic6519
      @helmandollarautodiagnostic6519  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man I feel your pain on the digging stuff out and getting all your electrical stuff tangled up. My plan is to get a dedicated electrical cart also, I just ordered a PicoScope so I’m anxiously awaiting its arrival. I picked up that big blue cart for 150 bucks so I pretty much had to buy it LOL. Yes diagonal electrical is the future you know that’s why they’ve gotten away from the term mechanic and started referring to us as technicians because everything is technical anymore there’s not a whole lot of mechanical left. My wife doesn’t understand she’s like how have you been doing this this long and you’re still having to buy tools and I told her it doesn’t matter how long I do this I will always be buying tools because stuff is always changing and I’m always running into different stuff. I truly appreciate your comment and sounds like you are definitely on the right track as far as the electrical goes. My plan is to release diagnostic type videos or maybe timesaver tips as well but I don’t think I want to do parts changing videos cause there’s 1 trillion of those on TH-cam.

      @@helmandollarautodiagnostic6519 well actually my friend they just invented a new term for us diag people. It's called diagnostician.🤣🤣. I think they made it up but it sounds good. I'd have to disagree with you on the soilder joint connector's. In my experience of using them as I heavy Diesel mechanic they don't last long, causing the wire to brake internal of the joint seen it on a few occasions now. I use the crimp connector's now the you heat I've had much better success with them and they're are recommend for CAN BUS wiring. But just my experience

      I agree, stay away from Matco tools. Matco tools is rebranded junk. At least Snap on does manufacture most of their tools. That being said I do have Snap on and Mac tools and some Matco tools and a Matco 6s triple bay tool box with hutch and if I could I would trade the Matco tools and the box for Snap on tools and box. I should've never switched from Snap on to Matco, the biggest mistake I ever made.

    • @madeinusareviews6234

    • @RenegadesGarage

      @@madeinusareviews6234 I did and he said there is nothing he can do with the box unless I buy a bigger box from him and trade the Matco box in but he wouldn't give me what I paid for it. He also wouldn't give a far dollar amount for the tools that I wanted to swap over to Snap on. So I guess I'm just stuck with the Matco stuff. All of my tools are paid for which is a good thing since I am not in the industry anymore because of health issues. I just do a little work on the side out of my garage at my house mostly on motorcycles.
