So I don't think people understand how hard and rare that is. It's already hard enough as independent artist but having a independent record label that is competing with major labels has never been done before. Jay-Z, Birdman,Puff Daddy, Dr.Dre... signed a label deal and a record deal in order to make their labels.
So now I understand why he was always saying that his focus was more on his label and not himself. Makes sense now because he knew his time was coming. I guess he was able to somehow make a deal with the devil without a major label involved. Because usually an order for you to so you're so you must sign to a major label for sometime. But I guess since he never signed to a label deal I'm assuming he sold it to distribution. once you blow up to a certain point your force to sign a major-label.
