- 'Now You've Got Something To Die For' guitar cover with tab. Original by Lamb of God.
Tuning - Drop D
Pro Tip: use the video settings [cog icon on desktop, three dot menu on mobile] to change the playback speed and make it easier to learn!
Several people requested more lessons and more tab videos like the Omertà tab video I did a while back so here is Now You've Got Something To Die For, with tab!
This is a deceivingly difficult song with the various chromatic riffs and very typical of Willie Adler's writing style. The second riff is probably the most challenging to nail, but once you have built up the muscle memory for it over a few days it becomes much easier.
So let me know what you think! Should I do more with the tab at the bottom of the screen or keep doing performance videos?
Comments below!
Also note, I used the original track to create my tempo map, so it varies by a few bpm throughout the track.
Tab software used is Guitar Pro 6 - plan to upgrade to 7.5 at some point!

That intro is, by far, one of the most difficult I’ve ever attempted on guitar, particularly to get as consistent and as tight as they are at it. Great cover!
Thank you 🤘
Couldn't agree more🙌👍
I just started learning more LoG riffs and they are so intricate. Just came across this one, Walk With Me In Hell is a super fun intro to play, Redneck is super fast and challenging too. They all are!! OP did a fantastic job with the cover
Why would anyone enact the labor of disliking this? Clearly lying to themselves
I appreciate all the efforts you put into the tabs on your covers. I'm 58yrs old, (I've only been playing guitar for a yr so, gotta lot to learn)..Thanks for all the great tabs especially LofG and Gojira to annoy my neighbors with! 🤟
You're welcome! Glad they've been useful and helped you learn!
This song is a tongue twister for your fingers lol. Once I got it down it's super satisfying. Been contemplating learning this song forever and made myself do it today. Still mess up here and there but it's fun to play regardless. Great video.
I trip up on it when I haven't played it for a while. Great for the dexterity though!
Same. Wanted to learn it for ages and never fully committed to it. Finally learnt it and love playing it now. The only difference is the pre-chorus riff I prefer playing on the low D string.

Very satisfying.
@@Adam-hj1hcYeah, this is how Willie Adler plays it judging by LoG live footage
such an underrated channel, keep up man
Thank you 🤘
3:08 tho. Heavy af. Love it.
Lamb of god is just incredible
2:31 was driving me crazy. The tabs I was using were accurate but the rhythm was way off on that 2nd repetition riff and I was overthinking it. Thanks for the help amigo! You've helped me several times already in my goal of learning this whole album, 2 songs to go 🤘
Great video bud! Super tight playing. Relatively simple to learn, but the sheer tempo is what makes it tricky (in true LOG style). Please keep the sheet music, it gives a nice perspective. Thank you for your efforts in making this :-)
Thank you, and I agree, the speed make it tricky!
i don't understand @ 2:29 what he's playing doesn't look like it matches the tabs highlighted in yellow?
That one 333 triplet threw me off like crazy, but now I can play it finally.
You make it look so easy to play, when I play it, I make it look hard 😄
Chapeau my friend. Killer tone and precision, like Willie want \m/
Thank you 🤘🤘
That song is so sick
Not understanding how there is a single dislike.
Awesome, great vid!
Yo.... Your alternate picking is masterful!
I am finding guitar covers like this one and I already found one. Thanks bro.
Lmfao what?
Hi Steve! I subbed when i learned the gift of guilt from you. I got a wild idea to learn this today and I searched a guitar cover. Thank God its you! I was so happy. Your playing is awesome and so is your camera angle and distance. Its perfect never change it. Thank you homie, I appeciate ya
You're welcome and I'm glad my videos have helped!
I learned this song using your video! Thanks for the help!
Awesome, glad it helped!
I love how this is like a guitar pro tab with a real guitar! Incredible playing AND editing!
Beautiful mix!
Cheers 🤘
Sorry but that sounds so tight! So good!
Great cover man! For the tabs I’d maybe recommend changing the view to just show the tabs rather than the sheet music too, that way you can make them a bit bigger :)
I'll have a look at doing that. May keep just some basic rhythmic notation but get rid of the stave so it's on a single line. Just need to have a play really. Thanks for watching too 🤘
@@ShadowMantraSteve duuude that lesson is perfect. Tabs size are perfect, we can see you executing the song and the tabs properly. Pretty good job!! I´ll tag ya when I upload a cover of this song! Definitely using this lesson.
@@ShadowMantraSteve Nah, the sheet music is a good touch. Keep it.
Great video Steve - do you have the instrumental backing track for this? Thanks!
Sorry I don't think I do anymore. I used a guitar pro file and took the bass and drums from it as a midi file and used that to create it in Logic Pro if that helps at all?
mmmm that thique bass tone! I like. nice cove mate.
Thanks 🤘
This was the version I learned from, Until I realized LOG posted their tabs of this.. and it's a bit different, and even more challenging ;_: you should check it out! cheers bro, your playing is clean!
I'll have to have a look 👍
where did LOG post their tabs?
Awesome cover man 🤘🤘
Cheers 🤘🤘
Awesome work 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Cheers 🤘
franchement : MERCI ! THANK YOU ! great job ! useful for me !
You're welcome!
That 2nd riff is ridiculous
This rythm part why man why it hits me and give a big depression every time i try to learn it.
Slowly does it. It takes a long time to get a LOG track under your fingers (they're incredibly 'fiddly' imo). Focus on slow and clean, speed will naturally follow in time.
Having the same issues with getting the intro down
Nice song, nice cover my friend!
Thank you 🤘
Deadly tone 😤
Thanks 🤘
Nicely played!
Thank you 🤘
Nice !
Awesome job bro👊
Thank you 🤘
Wow spot on great one🤘
Thanks 🤘 🤘
thanks for the tab broo,,, great cover.. love it 🤘
🤘🤘
This is great. Help a noob out here. I notice you do the first section with up and down strokes (8x the first riff), then only downstrokes in the second section (4x that riff). Why not up and down too? Preference? Or easier?
I haven't played it in a while but I would imagine the first part I went with alternate as it's a pretty steady stream of notes, but then switch to all downs for parts that need more attack. Palm mutes tend to sound better with down picking too.
Killer bro...thank you
Glad it helped!
Good track for the start play with LOGod
Sweet 🤘🤘
Thanks 🤘🤘
Lol I've been working on this song for ever...Those machine gun triplets kill me dead in my tracks every time. Awesome job man!
There's several LoG songs that kill my hand, I feel your pain. Thanks for watching 🤘
How the fuck are you supposed to count that section? I get what’s happening I think and I’m playing it right at least half of the time but only by getting lucky. Is there a certain feel that I’m missing?
thanks man 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You got any picking lessons? I’m trying to improve my gallop
Amazing
Cheers 🤘
thank you very much! I would love to see "One Gun" =D
I need to do it at some point 🤘
i wish i knew the finger placements for the second riff in the song. would make learning it a tad bit easier.
Whatever is easiest finger placement for you, I'd say. Doesn't matter how you play it. @0:25 I just use my index finger and move really fast lol. Just feels natural.
Perhaps a stupid question but could this be transposed for standard tuning on a 7 string?
I think it's doable but how easy it would be to play I wouldn't be able to say.
@@ShadowMantraSteve I've done more thinking about this and honestly it doesn't make a huge amount of sense to go through the trouble, may as well just tune it down. I was just hesitant as I'm still learning guitar and I've not deviated from standard tuning yet.
GREAT WORK, F YA!
tight
This this the rythm guitar part
Theres no lead really
So do I need to tune down the guitar? Just asking
You need to detune the low E string to a D so it will be D A D G B E
What is the name of the song in the last part of the video?
An original song called The Puppet - th-cam.com/video/pcQcd-JQHI4/w-d-xo.html
Freaken deadly cover...do you mind if I use your video for a vocal cover?
No problem, go for it!
@@ShadowMantraSteve Thanks dude! ill send you the video link after I'm done.. and by the way, your guitar playing is clean and solid......what a fucken beast!
@@ShadowMantraSteve Hey man, here's the link to my vocal cover!
th-cam.com/video/HCuN7PzUkaU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks again for letting me use this video
Vanishing please
You forgot to swipe down the guitar right before the breakdown for an awesome sound.
What’s your signal chain dude
Typically DI in, TSE 808 then either the Le456 or Ignite Amps Emissary amp sim, then a mix of Godscab and a Diezel Impulse. Sometimes there's some tweaks but that's the general chain. Then extra things like EQ when mixing.
Hi hi
Wait, is the verse all downstrokes? Holy cow.
Play drop D?
Drop D, yes
Pretty pointless putting the tabs below when nobody can see them.. it’s all cut off
The tab scrolls along through the song
@@ShadowMantraSteve I guess it’s hard to explain that you can’t see them, you can only see the the high E,B,and G stuff anything else is cut off
That’s odd, I’ve checked on several devices and get all the strings showing on the tab. Not sure why it’s cropping the video for you unfortunately
@@ShadowMantraSteve don’t matter to me I just figured you should know.
@@miker20 Little late but I'm gonna guess you watched this from your phone? If so TH-cam for some reason zooms in videos to fit your entire phone screen, if you zoom out you will see everything.
It sounds good as fuck, but your arm bro WTF. all downstrokes making hetfield look like shit
Amazing
