    when we add lag compensator in the forward path that means we add one zero and one pole. the pole is more close to the jw axis than the zero. so while calculating the centroid to make the root locus we can clearly see that the centroid must move to the right side (as compared to the centroid of the uncompensated system) because the formula of centroid is sumation(pole locations - zero locations) divided by (number of poles - number of zeroes) and here in adding the lag compensator we do not contribute anything to the number of poles - number of zeros term (as the number of pole and number of zero is equal) of the centroid formula but we contribute a positive term in the summation term. so the root locus branches move to the right side following the asymptotes. hence the closed loop system becomes less stable and takes more time to settle than the uncompensated system. Can anyone point out the mistake i am doing in the analysis? because its not going in hand with the conclusions in the video. thanks for reading.

      with lag compensation, overshoot is DECREASED because :
      - slower response
      - increase phase margin

      lag compensator pushes the gain crossover frequency to the left ------> low frequencies (it will become slower but have more phase margin.
