Mick Karn’s playing style is instantly recognisable. A unique approach that was always his and seemingly unaffected by other external influence. Great playing and excellent tone BTW

Mick Karn is a criminally underrated bassist who's unfortunately fallen underneath the radar. Thank you for putting a spotlight on his genius. By the way, great job, dude.

@@mindhead2005 it amazes me how polished they all sounded with their instruments even on the really early albums, they were all pretty young at the time remember. Rob Dean often gets overlooked, unfairly in my opinion...

@@carlbuchan5699 Rob is criminally underrated. His sounds, textures and playing are really top drawer. And he was so young!

There's a great live version of this from '81' (I think) - Old Grey Whistle Test

Hi. Thanks for this. Mick Karn's playing has been a mystery to me for 40 years. I watched your lesson, fantastic. What are your thoughts on the Harley Benton fretless you're playing.

Thank you, Rob. They have been a mystery to me, too,! I'm enjoying figuring them out.
The Harley benton JB-40fl in this video is a great instrument, especially for the money. It's punching so high above it's weight.
One tiny criticism is the lines on the board are a little bit faint, but I'm getting used to that. The pickups are good and it came shipped with flatwounds, which i swapped for rounds. I much prefer it to the Squier VM fretless I had which was over twice the price.
I must do a review actually

Brilliant, is that a rosewood neck? Looks quite light for rosewood?
