    Hi. That's the basic vegetarian Banana Leaf set that you had. Should have added some fish/chicken/mutton dishes.
    The green side dish is spinach whilst the round sweetmeat is ladoo.

    Your scooping of the rice is fine. Your problem is getting the rice into your mouth. Cup the rice into a small ball and used your thumb to push the food into your mouth. The thumb is the key.
    ps: the sweet ball is dessert to be taken after the banana leaf meal.
    Papodum is more like a cracker or chip rather than bread.

    Those creamy cubes, I don't know what the vendor told you, but to me it looks like barfi, a sweet made with milk. One bite and you just want to eat more

    if you eat with your hands, the thumb is the most important finger. You can find a tutorial on TH-cam. if you have mastered it, less mess and no waste... and easier digestion.

    Having lived in Malaysia for close to a year now I've realized Banana leaf is massively overrated. If you want some better South Indian food in KL, try Kayra in Bangsar Village or Khan's. They're both loads better than any banana leaf spots.

      @@josieliftsthings yes, come to Putrajaya. I might be bias bcs i live here(Putrajaya) most of my life… but never wish otherwise bcs putrajaya is really clean and a place to relax I would say. Also IOI (A mall) just become the biggest mall in malaysia if u want to visit too

    Next time you should order chicken or mutton varuval plus dhal when you are in Babana leaf restaurant. Please ask your Indian or Malay friends to show you, how to eat using your hand.

    Josie you both have to give banana leaf rice a second go because there’s barely anything in it. You gotta order the sides - chicken varuval, chicken 65 and whatnot. Maybe can give this place in Bangsar a try, Sri Nirwana Maju

      The surface is too smooth for laddoo. Laddoo has a kind of ribbed surface because it is compressed boondi

      @@JaswantSingh-ym9zo There're different types of 'laddu', 'boondi laddu, 'aval laddu', 'rava laddu', etc., Sometimes, for easy munch for toddlers and elderly the boondi is blended/crushed to make 'boondi laddu'.
