Sounds like Mrs. March was going through it. Nine Coaches Waiting sounds good, I have added it to my list! I haven't read the Edith Hamilton in decades. I'll need to reread for a refresher.
I am not a Romance reader, but I did go through a huge Mary Stewart phase in my late teens, and still have very fond memories! The ones that have stuck in my mind are Nine Coaches Waiting, The Moonspinners, Airs Above the Ground and This Rough Magic. I have thought about rereading, you're making me want to!
I’m not much of a romance reader either but Nine Coaches was so much fun to read! I have a few of her other novels in my shelves. Reading is always a comfort!!🙌🏼
I've got 5 books from Mary Stewart, including Nine Coaches Waiting on my Kindle, but have yet to any of them. 🤷🏼♀ I was thrilled to hear you compare it to Jane Eyre, so I think I need to get to it soon. 📚 Thanks! ❤
9 coaches waiting is on my list! Now I’m even more excited! I read Moonspinners years ago and was looking for more by her when Miranda mentioned nine coaches- my library is buying it at my request! Love Edith Hamilton!
Along with the Hitchcockian suspense of Mrs March’s building paranoias, I really enjoyed the mid-1960’s Manhattan vibe the author created. English is not Virginia Feito’s first language, she is a native of Spain. With that in mind, I was really intrigued that such a NY-centric ambience was created by a non-resident. I read “Mrs March” after Olive gave it a rave review. I look forward to checking out Virginia Feito’s future work.
In Polish, the name of daniel is for fallow deer; it derives indirectly from its Latin name Dama dama. it's interesting her name is Danielle Daniel. I find Indigenous lit lacking often in a smooth finish. And i don't mean the ending; I mean taking a step back to see the forest for the trees. An author told me once, "If you want to be a good writer, let go of your personal treasures," which is why a lot of first novels are exercise. Sometimes, if enough time goes by, an author can make it work, but in more instances than not, first novels don't have enough distance. IDK. It's just my experience. P.S.- I'm still waiting for you to review THE VANISHING HALF. I have so many mixed feelings about it. P.P.S- I really enjoyed this "4 quickies" review.
Mrs March sounds compelling. Storytellers love crazy people, because the things they do, the things that happen around them, and the things they imagine are interesting and unusual, which is of course exactly what you want when holding an audience's attention is important to you. My favorite, Shakespeare, uses them in every play - altho to be honest it's possible sometimes they are just very drunk. One of my first professors pointed out that before potable water was readily available those who could afford it drank wine, a lot of it. More recently, another favorite of mine has resurfaced on BookTube, Slaughterhouse-5, wherein an auto accident triggers the MC's peculiar psychosis. Lately tho, I've been feeling more sympathy for those afflicted and granting less artistic license to those who would profit from it.
Mary Stewart has been on my periphery for a while, you have convinced me to give her a try. Oh, and I also think Edith Hamilton is stellar. I greatly appreciated her _Greek Way_. Thanks for the reviews!
I found your channel through Olive's channel, and I am so happy! The way you talk about books is wonderful. I can't wait to watch your other videos.
Thank you so much!! That means a lot! ❤️
Once again, introducing me to books I've never even HEARD of! Love it 🙌 Thank you!
Looool it’s my civic duty 😂🙌🏼
Thank you Alana for the reviews. I am reading Mythos by Fry and was going to read Circes by Miller, but I might read Hamilton instead now.
Ooooh yes! Hamilton is excellent! Hope you’re enjoying Fry!
I love the premise of Daughters of the Deer, I might still pick it up.
You should!! It’s not a narrative that gets published every day! I hope you love it!

Mrs. March was definitely going through it lol! Yes! Hamilton is such a treat!
Glad to have found your channel 💞

Nine Coaches is a blast! So much fun! Yes, if you like Jane Eyre, the parallels are a treat!
Olive recommended you and I’m so glad she did! Mrs. March had such wasted potential. Thought it would have been a great novella.
Thank you and I’m grateful to Olive! Ooooh I think you’re spot on! It would have been an excellent novella!

Love Edith Hamilton!
Yaaaay! I hope you enjoy it! I have Moonspinners on my shelf as well!
And Edith Hamilton is great!

Yes she did nail the atmosphere of NYC and I did have to keep reminded myself that she is Spanish!

Hmmmmm of you’re noticing a trend with native lit, wonder if there is a cultural way of story telling that is specific going on.

Haha yes! And often the “crazy” character is seeing more truth than the “sane” characters. Ah Slaughterhouse 5 - I’ll be posting that one soon 😂
Great reviews! As soon as you said Marie should have married the stud from her tribe, I thought of Kocoum. 😂
LOOOOOL! Poor Kocoum! 🥲😂

Yay! I hope you enjoy!
Yes! I loved the Greek Way! It was one of my top reads in 2021!
From Olive shout out
Aw! ❤️❤️❤️
Olive sent me!
AAAH! Thank you!! ❤️
Mrs March - I hated the book, too repetitive. I liked the premise, but the writing wasn't great.
You’re right - it is repetitive! Yeaaa overall I was disappointed too. Alas! 😫
