Thompson is a great actress, authentic in every role, comfortable in her skin; and to the idiots criticising her accent, it is anything but fake: she enjoys the feelings and sounds of words...Innit.
Yes, "itgetseasierlessitry". Nicely spoken; however you forgot to mention that she is: hyper-smart, hugely successful and highly respected. Just sayin' , La Donna (to the sound of words)...
Who criticises her accent? She was born and London and to me sounds very much as if that's where she comes from. She sounds like my old friend Julia, born and bred and still living in the L.B. of H. & F. I'm from the L.B. of B. & D. myself, so don't sound quite so posh.
I've always loved Angela Lansbury, but I ADORE Emma Thompson. I have several favorite actresses but Emma, she's at the top of that pedestal! And, I LOVE her accent! I never tire of listening to her speak. And best of all, she's GENUINE! ❤⚘
I like Emma's story about the stage crew being so afraid to throw a pie in Angela Lansbury's face because she is a living icon that they respected so much. Personally, I don't think I'd be able to do it either.
I have to say this I enjoy the show Murder She Wrote because it actually was a fantastic show. Even though Angela Lansbury really was not very good in it. If you watch two shows in various seasons you will see her acting ability is terrible in them. I don't know if she was having mini-strokes while she was acting or what. But if she were delivering a line it would be all wrong she would accent either in the wrong place or make it a question rather than a statement. Really terrible. So I don't want to give her all the Fantastic Kudos that people are quick to. Watch this show and you'll see. I don't hate the woman I'm just saying weren't they paying attention when they were filming the stuff. Perhaps the director was afraid to speak up.
Loved Angela since I was a kid. She has such a wonderful musical voice. I grew with her mainly as Miss Price in "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and of course, Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast". Long live Angela!
And now Emma Thompson will be voicing Mss. Potts in the live-action adaption of Disney's Beauty and the beast. A role in which their animated film was voiced by Angela Landsbury
And she also played Mrs. Lovett in the Live From Lincoln Center version of Sweeney Todd. Angela Lansbury played the role in the original Broadway production.
Well, she said what she felt at first was utter panic (which is such an Emma-thing to say, really), so she called Angela and told her how afraid she was to sing her iconic song and everything, and Angela told her she could calm down and needed to worry about nothing because she would without question manage to give her own personal and brilliant spin on the character and the song - and so she did. And yes, the same with Sweeney Todd's Mrs Lovett. Emma's is by far my favourite version and anyone who hasn't seen it yet really should!
All one has to do is watch her bone-chilling performance in The Manchurian Candidate to know that is true. What a shame that Hollywood never fully took advantage of her magnificent acting talent.
A beautiful story told from the heart by one talented actress about another. What it captures about them both is a sense of fun and a taste for the irreverent. It's not a bad way to remember Dame Angela Lansbury is it? Hers was a long life, well lived, in which she touched the lives of all who met her or saw her perform. She was a wonderful character actress and as a human being, quite wonderfully herself.
As of this year, Emma Thompson will now have recreated two of Angela Lansbury's most iconic roles: Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Potts in Beauty And The Beast.
She was beautiful I remember my grandma who passed putting on bed knobs and broom sticks and I always remember watching it and I thought of my nana she said she looks lovely like your nana just like Angela and I see her smile those beautiful eyes my gran was fantastic my nan still alive and she a pain but I love her and I'd like to place this as award and remembrance to my gran and to say I love you nana so much al though I've never been there for you you will always remember me of my gran the loveliness but i will always love you xxxxx thanks Angela to remember the ones you love
I don't know, Patty Duke's performance in "The Miracle Worker" was also pretty amazing. Mainly this points up that the whole idea of pitting actors and performances against each other is kind of silly, and the award is more a crap shoot than a genuine indicator of anything.
I could easyly belive that two so brolliant Actresses like Angela Lansbury and Emma Thompson make easily make friends after they worked together. and to hear miss Thompson honoured Miss Lansbury is a great Joy. Because no one can work with words like she does. She can talk abaut a Phone book and you would laugh and be amused she is brilliant. and indeed Angela Lansbury is a gread person to speak about. Thank You for this Video
Dame Angela Lansbury is gone and so sorely missed by all. I have never loved an actress as much as her. She reminds me of my sweet dear mother who is in heaven also. I have always been captivated by Mrs. Lansbury, she is an awesome actress if not the finest. . I still watch her on "Murder She Wrote" most every day. The reruns keep her alive in my heart. Last year I decided to Google her and to my shock and dismay that I did not know it she had passed away years ago. I cried as if mom had gone or one of my many dear precious aunts had left us. I would have to say it makes me sad to think about her being gone still. But she really isn't, she is still on the T.V. in syndication. God Bless 's this woman I know, a dear lovely soul I would have loved to have met! I believe she is the greatest actress that truly captivated my entire attention on screen. So she is and will always be alive in my heart, I will never forget how she took my mind off of troubles, worries & tribulations and all that's going on in our world. Yes this dear English Queen of a woman is the greatest to me and my heart. I miss her but refuse to forget her comforting gentle spirit. She was so beautifully wonderful and Emma Thompson told it like it was and I am endeared to her as she obviously loved the greatness that Angela Lansbury was. An icon in America and England too I imagine and pray. So I miss you so much but will always feel closer to mom when I see you on the tube. Rest in Peace Sweet Lady. I think the world of you. I can't blame God for taking you away, I know you are with your dear husband you love. And you are at your best with our Lord.❤🎉❤🎉❤!
Great speech Emma!! As a Hong Kong people, I really love her accent and I was trying to learn that! (but failed...) To me, I think this is her character. um.. Indeed, there is no use to criticize on this tiny little thing.
I hope to have this kind of reaction when the Oscars honored me in my long lived career, can't wait to travel with Wendy and Tim plus Brio integrated theater next year because The Real Me is coming to London sometime in mid May
So Captain Amelia in "Treasure Planet" honuors Miss Eglantine Price in "Bedknobs and Broomsticks", but it's really Emma Thompson honours Angela Lansbury and they both appeared in "Nanny McPhee" and I love them because I have favourites on my own.
You can always trust Emma to give a great speech.
To give a good anything - performance, film, script, speech, etc.
Yesss, indeed!
Yes, but usually overacting!
Straight facts no cap
A great lady honouring a great lady.

What a lovely friendship, what an amazing speech. Two lovely women.
Yes. It takes courage to express such affection and admiration in private, let alone publicly!

Rest in peace Angela Lansbury 😢 Wonderful woman.
I can listen to her Magnificent voice telling story all day long.
She can read the instructions how to plump the loo and I will stiII listen.
I know it's about Angela Lansbury but I must say Emma Thompson is one of the best things that happened to film industry....❤️
I like Emma's story about the stage crew being so afraid to throw a pie in Angela Lansbury's face because she is a living icon that they respected so much. Personally, I don't think I'd be able to do it either.
Long live *DAME* Angela Lansbury!!!! She will always be a legend to me!
And it was announced today that next year she will be DAME Lansbury!!!
Did ya know Lansbury has a great set of pipes. She can really hold her own with anyone singing a torch song. Just ask Leslie Uggams.
I have to say this I enjoy the show Murder She Wrote because it actually was a fantastic show. Even though Angela Lansbury really was not very good in it. Mrs.Potts honors Mrs. Potts
Gilang Setyawibawa they also both played Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd
Dame Angela Lansbury is an international treasure. A legend, and the epitomy of class!
Loved Angela since I was a kid. She has such a wonderful musical voice. I grew with her mainly as Miss Price in "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and of course, Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast". Long live Angela!
Me too! Also as J.B. Flechter and Ms Potts. And as her cousin from London
I loved her in Murder She Wrote.
Amazing that anyone could comment on the greatness of Angela Lansbury. But the great and amazing Emma Thompson does it with grace and style as always.
She also voiced queen elinor from brave
Emma should be the host for the Oscars!!
She’s a wonderful story teller.
What a wonderful, personal and eloquent tribute. From one great lady to another.
I love when she shows how was her reaction when the name of ANGELA Lansbury was suggested.
R.I.P: Condolences to the family of Angela Lansbury. RIP. We will love and miss you, Angela.
1:30 am in LA.
I have watched this like once a year since it was first posted. I love these two women so much and the story is so sublime.
Emma Thompson, international treasure.
Emma Thompson is my favorite! Angela Landry is a warm and kind person, easy to work with.
God rest Angela. Great speech for a terrific talent.
Great speech Emma as always.
That was truly genuine
"That was lunch buggered for the rest of our lives" Had me howling with laughter.

Emma Thompson tells the story very well. Angela Lansbury is a legend! ☺😍👌
One can only imagine how Emma Thompson felt/reacted to play Mrs.Potts in the B&B remake since it is an iconic Angela Lansbury role
Well, she said what she felt at first was utter panic (which is such an Emma-thing to say, really), so she called Angela and told her how afraid she was to sing her iconic song and everything, and Angela told her she could calm down and needed to worry about nothing because she would without question manage to give her own personal and brilliant spin on the character and the song - and so she did.

oh what a beautiful speech!
Absolutely fantastic speech.
No one gives a better speech than Jodie Foster and Emma Thompson, two of the smartest and wittiest woman in Hollywood
siddharth nagar I think we have similar tastes. I love both of them too.
Amazing performance Emma! LOVE You! Blessings!
Great speech Ms. Thompson!! I always heard Ms. Lansbury has a great sense of humor. Lansbury is quite the lady and is the BEST Actress of our time .
All one has to do is watch her bone-chilling performance in The Manchurian Candidate to know that is true. What a shame that Hollywood never fully took advantage of her magnificent acting talent.
she's so funny. I want her to adopt me.
Lovey Mills If she adopts you u can't fuck her
Amen!
+Adi Adrian: Why would Emma Thompson ever want anything to do with someone who so obviously cares so little about how they treat her?
it was a joke. and honestly i think if i met her she would be more of a mother figure than anything else. which would rock
I want to adopt her!
that woman is greater than life, mss Lansbury is wonderfull to...
Love Emma Thompson and Angela Lansbury. Wonderful women. =]
Thank you Dame Emma for giving such a great message to Ms Angela...
What a wonderful tribute to an icon. Makes me cry x

This woman is really something special!
Wonderful speech.
Beautiful tribute, fr one super classy legend to another, oh! love them both so much...
Beautiful tribute, but the Academy has owed an Oscar for best supporting actress to Angela Lansbury for The Manchurian Candidate.
I don't know, Patty Duke's performance in "The Miracle Worker" was also pretty amazing. Mainly this points up that the whole idea of pitting actors and performances against each other is kind of silly, and the award is more a crap shoot than a genuine indicator of anything.
"Get A Grip" did nobody get that joke !!!!
I got it!
I wondered about that. Guess she shoulda added "or a gaffer" for those not hip.
Two classy ladies.
THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
We'll deserved honor. Wonderful, espectacular human being and actress.
