I want to cry when I see this, we had probably the only happy multiracial country on earth until the shit-stirring thieves started to agitate. Very sad.
I was born and bred in Salisbury and loved Rhodesia. Consequently, I wanted Rhodesia to win the war, as did all my family. We, the whites, were the most content and patriotic section of Rhodesian society. Very few of us threw in our lot with ZANU or ZAPU. On the other hand, thousands of Shona and Matabele headed off into the bundu to fight against us. Finally, the Portuguese had more multi-racial societies in Angola and Mozambique.
@@glendodds3824 yes but we must never hate or be unkind to the many hundreds of thousands of good black people that fought with us. I do feel sad for them.
A great & nostalgic video. Hindsight is still a wonderful thing. The old adage of... "If a thing ain't broke, don't try and fix it" comes to mind. Things weren't perfect then, but today, things are very far from perfect 😐
@@philemomnnakedi6190 That was the one big mistake the Rhodesians made. They repealed the Land Tenure act WAY too late. In fact it should never have existed.
But not in parliament. The population was 94% black, but they only had a handful of seats in parliament. The whites were the majority in parliament. And there were segregated neighborhoods. The whites in the wealthy neighborhoods and the blacks in shabby neighborhoods. The whites owned most of the industry and property. It wasn't as bad as apartheid in South Africa. But Rhodesia was segregated nonetheless.
Towards the end of the Rhodesia, most of the Rhodesian armed forces were black Africans, are very effective, loyal soldiers they were too. There is little evidence of their being persecuted after Mugabe came to power, especially as he used them to keep order, especially against rebellious Ndebele tribesmen.

Hi. If you went to the suburbs, government schools and hospitals, you would find segregation.

How does discrimination look like in the picture.
Except for one thing they were helping the Rhdesians to be more racist
and create new economy which excluded black Zimbabweans

I wonder, what happened to the black people, taking part in this ceremonies, after Mugabe came to power? Were they “forgiven” or were they persecuted?
