  • We are thrilled to present “Mighty Mo in Concert” sponsored by The Atlanta Chapter of the America Theatre Organ Society. This one-hour program features resident Fox organist, Ken Double, on the iconic 1929 Moller Pipe Organ, affectionately known as "Mighty Mo." Sit back, relax, and enjoy a wide variety of music, including selections from Phantom of the Opera, The Four Seasons, Three Dog Night, and more!
SUPPORT THE FOX THEATRE! Click Here: foxtheatre.eve...
    About the Moller pipe-organ
Mighty Mo boasts 42 sets of pipes, these sets are voiced to present organ sounds like diapason and tibia, but also orchestral sounds like the oboe, French horn, trumpet, violins, tuba, clarinet and more. Additionally, as a theatre pipe organ, the Moller boasts real percussions such as xylophone, glockenspiel, chimes, drums, and cymbals plus special sound effects used for accompanying silent films. When the Fox opened in 1929, Mighty Mo was the largest theatre pipe organ in existence (surpassed by Radio City Music Hall in 1932).

The tribute to George Wright by Ken is most appropriate as we celebrate what would have been Wright's one-hundredth birthday TODAY, August 28!

Thanks sooo much for doing this! Going to the FOX as a child and hearing Mighty Mo played during intermission was what inspired me to take organ lessons from a great theater organist Ms. Hood in Chamblee when I was in high school, and later to minor in organ at Mercer Univ in Atlanta. This is soo much fun!!!!

A wonderful opportunity to listen to Mighty Moe by an expert at the keys. And to learn things I never knew about the organ just by watching and listening. Thank you Ken!

So incredible to hear this magnificent instrument again. Seems like so long ago when we could attend an event. Would love to hear a Christmas concert this December, even if only 30 minutes long if that might be possible. Thanks for an incredible hour.

I was fortunate to attend what was supposed to be the "last" concert at the Fox when it was in danger of being torn down. The organist was Lynn Larkin I think, may have spelling wrong. Then after it was saved, a real event was Virgil Fox at the Fox! What a showman! Thanks for bring this to us.

I love this. Thank you so much for streaming this. I am a church organist and would LOVE one of these magnificent organs. The song choices are perfect! I should have been born when my grandparents were. They got married in 1930. They loved theater organ and played these songs in duet on organ and piano and singing. This concert was truly a gift! Wonderful!

I am so happy I was brought to this channel. This brings me back to my first theater organ pipe concert at the Embassy Theater in Fort Wayne, IN. As it arose from the depths its mighty open chords (played by Larry Merriman), brought me to my knees -- as I 'felt' the Voice of God that I remember so very clearly. I am grateful for the ATOS's keeping this beautiful instrument in play.

The company that recorded this was def sub-par. My dad recorded the orgAn at Radio City in NYC mamy times. He told me he had at least 150 micophones to record the sounds this amazing instruments creates. I remember going with him to help him lay cables to the mixer. He would have the performer play the piece a few times to know what pipes/percussion was going to be used. He recorded on (3) Ampex 24track machines that had intersync so he could mix down later. It was awesome to listen to after the mix. Also didnt hear much blow-by air from the pipes either.
Shame these guys made it sound so crappy

@@rty1955 Wow! That sounds like a good setup for sure! Nowadays: Ahh, I'll just use my iPhone to record this pipe organ, who will care! LOL. I come from a recording background too. My Grandfather was a studio engineer @ RCA. He produced many of the RED SEAL LP's back in the day.

@@curtchase3730 my dad worked for NBC monitor radio and was hired by Dumont television network because of his live audio ability.
