Hi Jasmin and Seb, I lived in Oxford from 2000 - 2004, while my wife was studying. We lived on Leckford road, not far from the Walton Well bridge which we used to cross to go to Port Meadow. I had a job at Lucy's, which isn't there anymore, but has been converted to luxury accommodation. And here we are floating down the canal, right past Lucy's and under Walton Well bridge. I fell in love with Oxford, and the attachment is still as raw now 16yrs later. Stuck in New Zealand, corona virus covering the planet, thanks for the memories. A lovely vlog, ta.
Nice to see this area again. My son lives in Jericho , 2 doors down from The Old Bookbinders Pub. We walked a lot along the canal when we visited him. We live in Canada and miss not being able to visit this year (2020). Stay safe everyone.
I am an American and discovered this wonderful little corner of you tube with the narrow boats . I have been binging on cruising the cuts videos and now have another addiction lol....your channel . Awesome video , love the cruise with the music , amazing , great job. Makes a dreary snowy winter day in the Pacific Northwest of the US pass by a little easier . Keep cruising and enjoying your adventures !
If you've read any of the Inspector Morse books you'll know 'not' to go wandering round Oxford's Back-Alley's ;-) ........... (Lovely little Trundle along the canal though :-)
Lovely video and great music from Seb. You are great inspiration for me, as I have just paid my very last annual mooring fee. It is time for me to learn and explore the cut :-)
Love the video, especially the music! And the quiet moments. And weeping willow. And Ma and Pa Swan with.....wait for it,....7, that is, seven.....cygnets! 👍
Cool . This is definitely one for the large screen ! Delightful as always Jasmin. The picture quality seems to be better than usual. Good way to start my Sunday morning .Thank you .
My home town, I lived in Jericho (yes there is an h in there) for a few years and it’s really cool and I lived in Summertown (yes it’s all one word :-) when I was a student. Thank you so much for this vlog...I loved it
You might enjpy the university parks and the botanic gardens next time you're in Oxford Jasmin. Also the covered market right in the centre ia interesting. Are you going through Pangbourne or Goring? I could wave to you!
Ahoy Jasmin. Enjoyed the video but I have to say I'd hate to meet another narrow boat in the middle of that hanging tree. Just catching up on your videos and I am really enjoying them. And yes I know I am extremely late commenting. = (
Lovely video girl, just out of our town the Lord of the rings move was shot, the Hobbit village part. My avatar is the local information office that has had a make over to look like the gate keepers house. Liked the music with video too. All the very best..... My strawberries are just starting to fruit.
Great video. Luv the music..I was wondering who pays for the upkeep of the towpath. Does it come from your licence fees. Or do the various councils pay for their bit of it
the tow path I think is taken care of by the canal and river trust, but i know there money comes from a few places the goverment probly , licence fees and probably lottery money too...
Hi Jasmin does your gorgeous fluffy tabby cat ever wonder off dry when she goes on to the tow paths like the narrowboat adventure girls Kath and Annamarie's cats wonders off into fields and up trees,
Can an individual, not canal-river-trust personnel, stand on his narrowboat mid-canal and trim back the low hanging leaves that threaten to make the canal un-navigable? Its scenic, sure, but its an obstacle.
Cool, I'm glad to hear tha. We had a cat who loved to swim. I think most of them can, it's good they can. This cat we used to have would throw herself into rivers and streams when we'd take her camping and hiking in New Brunswick, Canada.
Oxford is as expensive as London to live, you need deep pockets to reside there. A very upper-middle-class town except for the outskirts e.g. around the BMW Mini works, that's where the peasants live.
Well I have some concerns, see I am from Texas, down there we do our craw dadding in the rivers now the reason we do that is in a free flowing river the water is fairly clean, yet even then we take the time and trouble to flush out their digestive systems by soaking them for a day or so in a covered tub. Now you mention fishing, well there I am not so sure, see the water in you canals doesn't move much, is relatively poor in oxygen most likely and the fish could be unhealthy to eat. Now I am not trying to act like some expert, I am telling my concerns is all. I know nothing about where you live, but I love those big eyes of yours and would like them to stay healthy is all... take care now
So very glad, apparently and happily. I might add I don't know as much as I thought I did..lol I know all too much about about the pollution here in the states and the horrible state of food supplies here in the states, glad all is well with you and yours, stay afloat now
While living in Oxford while my wife was studying , on a nice summers day , we often walked passed the canal and across Port Meadow to the Thames. We would spend a fun day catching crays with a chicken bone on a string. The crays were delicious. Wonderful memories . Thanks. ( I worked at a company called Lucy's right on the canal, now an upmarket housing estate.)
One of the best cruising videos I have watched. Not too much talking, very relaxing, amazing views and lovely music. Just perfect, I love it ❤

Great videos!!
yes me and my partner seb, he play guitar!

Those willow trees are certainly making the most of their spots along a canal.
there are so many of the oxford canal! so many low trees!
You might enjpy the university parks and the botanic gardens next time you're in Oxford Jasmin. Also the covered market right in the centre ia interesting. Are you going through Pangbourne or Goring? I could wave to you!

yes it is hard to start with
Hi Jasmin does your gorgeous fluffy tabby cat ever wonder off dry when she goes on to the tow paths like the narrowboat adventure girls Kath and Annamarie's cats wonders off into fields and up trees,

That low flying cloud made me laugh! Then I realised what it was doing. ;-)

Whilst you were at Jerico did you take a look at Jericho ( where the wall came tumbling down ) ?

I don't understand can you explain what you mean?
Nice to see you with a bit of a tan!

Can an individual, not canal-river-trust personnel, stand on his narrowboat mid-canal and trim back the low hanging leaves that threaten to make the canal un-navigable? Its scenic, sure, but its an obstacle.
I mean they pysically can I dont know about the legal side
That's what I was thinking too. I wanted to see Jasmine swinging a machete on the bow.
Nice vid
Is jasmine still around in 2023?
It was great to see more of your cat, thank you. Has your cat fallen in the water yet?
yes but good news she can swim
Cool, I'm glad to hear tha. We had a cat who loved to swim. I think most of them can, it's good they can. This cat we used to have would throw herself into rivers and streams when we'd take her camping and hiking in New Brunswick, Canada.
that is hilarious!
has seb made any cd yet
working on it!
J.r.r. Tolkin? I thought he had passed away. Anyway, the connection is there.
oh looks like he died in the 70s!
Answered my own question.
Storm Callum is beating up the UK currently, hope you're doing okay?
did get a bit hairy , but all ok
Oxford is as expensive as London to live, you need deep pockets to reside there. A very upper-middle-class town except for the outskirts e.g. around the BMW Mini works, that's where the peasants live.
it is a bit lovely but yes its clearly quite an expencive area
a 3 Bed Ex-Council House Near Car Factory is £400,000 +
& That'll Need Money Spending on It.
Had to move away from Oxford because of Brexit, this makes me miss it. Thanks for the video I hope things are going well for you.
13:42 Opium Den? Opium?
by the way, I know you talked about craw fishing and I think we should maybe talk about that a bit, I think it might be important...
I have made a video, we didnt this year we tried to do the other kind of fishing, not much luck!
Well I have some concerns, see I am from Texas, down there we do our craw dadding in the rivers now the reason we do that is in a free flowing river the water is fairly clean, yet even then we take the time and trouble to flush out their digestive systems by soaking them for a day or so in a covered tub. I know nothing about where you live, but I love those big eyes of yours and would like them to stay healthy is all... take care now
i was fishing in the river thames, and cray fishing in a clean bit of the canals, i didnt get sick eating them
So very glad, apparently and happily. I might add I don't know as much as I thought I did..lol I know all too much about about the pollution here in the states and the horrible state of food supplies here in the states, glad all is well with you and yours, stay afloat now

If that tyre is a lifebuoy , you will not need to haul it in as it will kill whoever is in the water when it hits them !
Its a fender for when the canal wall has sunk
good thinking Batwoman
my partner cant get over the visual of your comment :D
nor can I - I am still laughing :D
You seem to be slightly unhinged, and you have a great big arse.
