Spending isn't the solution. Would Pep pick players like Nacho, Carvajal, Rudiger etc? Probably not. He likes the Stones-type defenders. Thing is: those more "rudimentary" cheaper players help you win titles in Europe whereas the Stones-type players look elegant but there's at least 1 big error from them in every game and then it's a tossup whether it is going to cost you the game or not....
I agree with him, I've watched most of their games over the last few years and they're lacking attacking pace and balance. KDB, Foden and Silva are all wonderful players but they all operate in the same area. They're a better side with Grealish despite his detractors. If they have two genuine world class winger like Robben, ribery they'd be almost untouchable. Mbappe would have been perfect for them.

Man City have best midfield in futbol. But they don’t really have a player that can counter attack, you had that with Sane years ago. But sometimes it feels like they’re missing something. Haaland is basically just a poacher, he can’t score outside the box. Alvarez has his moments and could be world class but he also misses some easy opportunities. Someone like kvaratskhelia or Leao think could really take ‘em over.

Football doesn't work that way, everyone thought the same thing about the Galacticos but Barcelona's Academy ended up dominating and had Pep stayed the rate at which they were winning the UCL was terrifying.
I think PSG and Man City are one to watch and when Newcastle will finally be able to spend i think they're the one's everybody needs to worry about cause unlike Man City who could have easily signed Mbappe but chose a more different route, Newcastle will absolutely go for it and nothing will stop them.

In the Madrid - City game, the 2 legs totalled 210 minutes. It was a draw for 76 minutes, Real Madrid led for 116 minutes and City led for ......18 minutes. They’re much better than City from a Cup perspective. Pep is too rigid and stubborn to change his tactics when he needs as shown in this year QF game 2 vs Real. Pep will always win you leagues bc his system works against 90-95% of all opposition, but in cup games, he doesn’t adapt well. Last season when he won the treble, he won it bc he adapted (look what he did in the CL semi vs Real for example) but it’s like he unlearned all of it this season. His 2:3:5 with insane high line and different derivatives of it were a disaster and yet he refused to change it
3:4 goals City conceded over the 2 games were from counter attacks down the right side. Even a blind person could see City’s high line left them so vulnerable to the counter. You’d think Pep would drop the line a bit or change the formation like he did last season (flat back 4 - conservative - game one and then played with 3 across the back while inverting Stones - aggressive - in game 2) especially against one of the best counter attacking teams in Europe as that would make sense given City’s defensive frailties from the high line. Nope. He had Akanji pushing up behind the halfway line and he got smoked by Vini on the counter 1st goal conceded. Then Akanji caught out yet again, tried to recover, but can’t 2nd goal and then rhe 3rd happens bc Walker is too high up yet again ball watching and bam they counter down the right again. Sheer insanity.
Even in the PL, we had the worst defense against the counter and with 6 games to go in the season, we had already conceded more goals and had fewer clean sheets than in the entirety of each of the last 3 preceding seasons. Yet Pep continues with his high line? What am I missing? Maybe Pep made a bet at the beginning of the season to not play a certain way? I don’t know but his inability to adapt his tactics to deal with defensive liabilities is very odd
Disagree. A lot of talent in Madrid but City operate as a team. They can replace star players and still function based on their team set up.

Pep is arguably one of the best league managers of all time, but when it comes to cups, especially the CL, his record is nowhere near as good as his league record is. WHy? Pep is quite rigid in his tactics and demands absolute control of his players on the pitch whereas Carlos, not so much as he is quite fine with changing tactics on a per-game basis which is why he has won so many cups, especially CLs.
As a City fan, Pep is the absolute best manager for winning leagues, but for winning UCLs, the evidence says otherwise even if you strip away the Real semi where the City collapsed (not on Pep), with very few exceptions, especially within the last 5yrs, City's poor performance (I say "poor" as relative to what we know they can do) has been largely due to Pep either overthinking it or refusing to adapt his tactics.
For example, all season in the PL City have struggled against the counter attack and actually have the worst ranked defense against the counter attack. Last season, Pep was quite adaptive, and when playing against RM, he played his most conservative defense, flat back 4 against RM at their gaffe and it worked well. In the 2nd leg, Pep went to a back 3 while inverting Stones which is defensively, far more aggressive. Pep adapted.
This season, in stark contrast, Pep played the same 2:3:5 in which his FBs are essentially playing as wingbacks leaving only 2 defenders and still with a very high line. Tell me how it makes sense that given all the counter attack issue City has had throughout the whole season, that playing a back 2 with a very high line makes sense against arguably the best counter attacking team in Europe? I don't think you can,. Yet Pep did and what happened? 3:4 goals RM scored on City across both legs came from counter attacks down the right side because Akanji was too far up the pitch and got burned in game one and the same thing happened to Walker in game 2. Even if you look at how City did in our remaining 9 games, we were being cut to pieces on the counter attack and given everything at stake, Pep still refused to do anything about it. Love Pep, but it's like he unlearned everything from last season when he was so richly rewarded for his adaptive tactics even when he had everything set.

Actually i think people are sleeping on Barcelona, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Pablo Torre, Araujo, Balde, Cubarsi, Faye, Roque, Yamal just to name a few are young players with very high potential.. If Flick gets things right, Technically, i don't think there's a better future Squad plus La Masia is producing again and at a very scary rate. Hector Fort may become one of the most sort after Fullbacks and he can play right or left.
But most of the players you listed are just raw talents. Except a few rest are all one trick pony. They need experienced locker room leaders which Barca lacks so much. If flick wants to get it right they might need some transfers and a medical dept that can curate and maintain players at tip top condition, otherwise it will be a hospital.
The problem is all those players are very young,,, winning the 1st ucl is the most difficult one,, Barca's youth have no experience it that department neither do they have seniors who can help them,,, i Don't see them winning any ucl trophy for atleast next 5 years
