I was a convert to your findings, teachings back in 2008 Oscar and STILL I hear people who are paid well to guide and coach youngsters sill not paying any attention to the equipment , in particular children, that they are working on court and trying to learn with.
Smaller the better for feel and raquet control. If you want more power then use the string tech that's out there. Love your work Oscar, thanx.

After reading the tip on your blog it occured to me that perhaps I'm not falling for the modern game as I play mostly serve and volley. I will still try a smaller grip on my next outing and see how it feels. Thank you for your input. Happy hitting!

I just switched from L3 to L2 today, WOW what a tremendous increase in touch, spin, and racket speed.

As a veteran with historic elbow issues I have always played with very big grips....recently tried a much smaller grip and am amazed at how much better the racquet "feels"....my serve has more pop...and my racquet head speed has gone up on my ground strokes. Am using multifil strings to help my elbow....so far no issues!
In truth I find myself gripping lightly as the feel is better.

    Very interesting.
Is that true for all styles of play and size hand?
I've heard that smaller grips are great for semi-western grips and baseline play with the loose whipping strokes. I play a more north/south type game looking to serve/return and move forward. A larger grip, 4 7/8 seems to relax my forearm during serves, half-volleys, and volleys. Not so much on returns. Thanks for sharing the vids. I hope at some point to join your program in earnest. Keep up the good work!

I can tell you friends it feels great in my case mi racquet is 105 sq. in. and my grip size is between L2 and L3 and it feels very good in my hand I enjoy to handle the racquet. I think that there is a relation between the size of the racquet head and the grip size to feel better the strings.

Smaller grip shouldn't give elbow problems unless you are muscling the ball with your arm rather than using the body and racket lag to generate momentum.

Im a standard 4 5/8 on book but my very first racket was 4 1/4 (i didnt know grips then). Nopem it didnt work the rwcket kept flying away from my hand maybe because im too tired holding on to it. But then again i am no expert

or..stop being frail and develop some good grip strength. I prefer a thicker grip

grip too small will move in ur hand during Acceleration Before Contact its quite bad:(

That can happen if the grip is too small and you can not grab it safely and feel that you have no control over the head of your racquet, but smaller the better to feel the ball.

sorry but this is NOT a new trend. I grew up within G. Sabattini times and back then in argentina we applied the smaller grip a key to control better your racket and also to extend your healthy arm function in and out of the court. I still can't believe that there's a lot of tennis instructor pushing the wrong concept. I has to do with biomechanics and common sense.
