Thanks so much to Reflected for this preview video, and Reflected has also made some great contributions through testing as well, making sure the finished product will be even better.
Look´s like you did a really good job! Just one little thing to criticize: The pilot is requesting "takeoff". At least in the civil world it´s a rule written in way too much blood (actually one of the worst aviation disasters, including 583 fatalities), that the the word "takeoff" is only used in an actual takeoff clearance. So ATC can clear you for "takeoff" and the readback is also "Cleared for takeoff...", but the only thing the pilot can request at the holding point is departure. The usual phrase should be "Tower, callsign, holding point XY, runway XY. Ready for departure". This rule was implemented after a 747 hit another 747 on the runway in Tenerife, (also) caused by communication misunderstandings including the word "takeoff". May be I´m wrong and it´s a usual phrase in military flying, but since it seems like you put a lot of emphasis on realism, it might be a good hint.
@@groundpoundersimulations8317 You‘re welcome! If you like to have more information about that accident, you can find it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenerife_airport_disaster The point I mentioned is noted under "Legacy".
@@schmo78that’s really interesting. I sometimes wonder why particular words and phrases are used, and sometimes it can seem like gatekeeping ( business speak is awful much of the time - it can feel like ‘only the cool kids know the passwords’!) but, in aviation at least, there always seems to be a very good reason things are said and done a certain way. I love learning about stuff like this, thanks.
Nice, it’s about time for more F16 campaigns. I gave up flying it because so few campaigns. Remember to make them fun and accessible. I gave up on one campaign that shall remain nameless. The first mission had us go into the desert for a dogfight. Great start right? BUT before it could start, I had to listen to a 5 minute sermon about hard deck, turn this way unless you gotta turn this way, knock it off if blah blah, remember the SPINS and special instructions and NOTAMS and frequencies and break any of the above and you fail. This is not anybody’s idea of fun. I know some people like to brag about thousand hour or top gun patches (I know because I worked with some of them, all using call signs in their signature blocks) and I appreciate the dedication and two decades it took them to get there, but I have a day job. Most DCS WW2 campaigns got it right in that department, and most F18s ones too. Striving for realism is fine, but one item that can be dropped is the over regulation. Some point out these have come to be out of lessons learned over the year. I get that. But remember this is a game, don’t punish the player by having Karens ride on your shoulders
Thanks for sharing this, Reflected. Im a big fan of Chris' work and hold him in high regard from a campaign creator standpoint. He always seems to push the ME to its limits. Makes for highly immersive content. While im not a viper guy, ill definitely purchase for that "rainy day" when i get the itch.
This looks epic. I own the Kerman Harrier campaign, and that is similarly fun, and polished. They've quickly become one of the better DCS campaign developers.
Thanks for posting!! I'm looking forward to ALL of the upcoming Viper campaigns... I need to get bored of the F15E first though so take your time gentlemen.. HA HA!
@@groundpoundersimulations8317 forget which one but leading like 8 vipers down in the Saudi clag to a way point approach...probably below mins for single seat...but hey take what you're given with no shame...epic
I love this campaign a lot and I can't even get passed the training mission... Lmao. I can't believe the amount of time and effort goes into these. You campaign/mission builder guys are a whole different breed. Thank you guys for all your hard work.
I feel the same way about scores… That’s one of the reasons that I don’t use Bankler’s CASE Recovery missions anymore. It’s a microanalysis tool that doesn’t give you feedback that an IP or LSO would have. People get wrapped up in trying to get a perfect nanometer score result instead of cross-checking the information and developing a better sight picture to improve each approach.
It's an interesting one, when I started making campaigns I put scores in for the replayability factor, but didn't expect anyone to be that bothered. Little did I know a lot of people take their score really seriously!
Greatly appreciate the video reflected. Makes me want to get back into the Viper. Problem is I grew up with F-4s and when the Phantom hits the scene, the real Wild Weasels have come home and I will be glued to that platform. Like MisterMannIndy said though, I will purchase the campaign for a rainy day. Love supporting all this hard work and look forward to trying it out someday
I have Persian freedom and the Kerman campaign, I thought PF was very good and Kerman so far is even better. The documentation is VERY realistic. JTAC comms was spot on, my only critique would be to tweak some of the voice acting. Experienced JTACs sound as crisp on the radio as a tower controller at a major airport. That said however there was a huge improvement in the realism of the comms from PF to Kerman, both between elements and ATC/JTAC. I will get this campaign for sure, if Reflected is this impressed by the detail it must be amazing! Great video!
First of all i have to admit that i have rant many times about DCS ..its a hard love situation sometimes, like in real life, when you love something you care and you are worried that something can get out of the rails, i have around 3500h in DCS i have spent more than 1000euros already, not to speak on all the PC and hardware i have happily invested in 5000euros? ye must be around that, i bought the best of the best, for MSFS as well, so yeah this Sim means a lot to me, besides God, Family, Guitar and my music production. With this new Update 2.9 , despite some weird freezes 5-10% of the time , I'm having a blast, and "eating this food" (this campaign) very very slowly, I'm enjoying every single paragraph on the story line, sometimes i read it twice so i can really understand everything and the story of this Character pilot im playing, besides the sound atmosphere and comms, that i think i could have done a better job with levels and voice effects inside a jet plane, but still i think its great, and i have to thank the guys in ED for their job, i think is more than fair these significant updates because ED knows they are dealing with clients and supporters like me that have spent at least 300-500 bucks, thanks now lets see the video to check what i was doing wrong when deploying the cbu´s i had a right 145 degree but i think has to do with the wind, even at low alt, because it is the 2nd time the bombs fall 30 ft on the side
As a former air defence artillery soldier i have to say... loved it that you pronounced SEAD/DEAD correctly ❤ have heard it pronounced wrong so many times😅 much respect!
You wait for ages then three come at once. It’s just like waiting for a bus… EDIT - I’ve watched more of the video now. I’m gonna die. A lot. Can’t wait! I usually prefer the older period planes, esp warbirds, but as I’ve become more used to the F-16 I’m starting to really like it. I wish it had autopilot and auto throttle like the hornet, but otherwise I definitely prefer the 16 right now.
Since the F-15E soured me on purchasing any Full Fidelity module. I just bought Syria instead, after a long debate on which Terrain to get. I decided that since most people use Syria for user missions/campaigns, it was the best choice. Now I just need some Syria campaigns/missions for either FC3 or F-15E lol Anyway, thank you for all of your hard work. Thank you to everyone who makes these amazing Campaigns(including the guy who made this one)
Didn’t catch it in the video but I imagine the player will have to contend with interceptors/sanitizing airspace at some points as well? Regardless very excited to see the F-16 get some new detailed campaigns. I’ve been flying the Tomcat almost exclusively in single player (thanks in no small part to Reflective’s campaigns), but I love the Viper. It’s why I I got into DCS. Unfortunately I’ve found the dynamic scenarios in multiplayer unsurprisingly lacking the polish of a crafted campaign. Will be picking this one up day one.
The research is hard work...but it's totally within anyone's reach if they put the work in. I don't have a military background or even access to SMEs, everything I know is from reading/researching (and what i don't know I make a best guess).
That looks really challenging and a ton of fun! I’m not familiar with the current situation - can you fly the campaign in MP? Sorry, just saw that Reflected has already answered the question posed by somebody else. Reference my last - cancel!
Just bought, really interested in Wild Weasel operations, are in the documentation illustrated Wild Weasel tactics? I f not, where I can found something to study, learn and so appreciate much more the campaign? thx.
Looks teriffic! And stressful haha. I flew Persian Freedom which was extremelly immersive & detailed. There was a few search missions in that which were very open for the player, even I was nervous being given too much freedom 😅 lookng forward to this one. Crikey still have Cerbres & Kermen waiting as well!
@@groundpoundersimulations8317 I'm sure Steep needed some stress leave after our adventures haha. It's been an age since flew the hornet, think I'll try fit that in with the mossie coming months. Between you two alone I'm already set till 2030 for DCS content! Dynamic campaign what?
I’m pretty sure those 3-400 triggers per mission would have had to be set up differently if it was meant for MP. At this level of complexity it’s either or, can’t fill both shoes. But GP will correct me if I’m wrong.
No unfortunately not, there's still triggers that don't work properly when you introduce clients so it was never designed to accommodate MP...and reflected's right there's just too much complexity in the mission design to allow for another variable (ie. a second human running wild) without designing it that way from the ground up. Maybe one day if we get native MP campaign support one of us will be able to finally give you a proper MP campaign. But the AI in this campaign is in pretty good shape so I hope your virtual wing-men will do a good job of filling in.
@ReflectedSimulations oh haha yeah o kind of commented that early video but once i kept watching i realized it wasn't your project. The video was so in depth and thoughtful it had convinced me you were at the helm haha. And yeah it really sounds like him
