      It came with little decals to put over the face where the sound is supposed to come out, to silence it. Too bad the buzzer is underneath! Way too loud for the inside of a cab.

    You really spend a lot of time with the planting and harvesting on the tractors in the field. That with all that you do in the shop in repairs and so forth, how do you find the time to do filming? Love the video, I'm glad I had this come up in my queue and got the opportunity to watch the dual White equipment in action, thanks Chris. I hope you have a wonderful day!

      Sometimes it can be a challenge. You just have to make time. That's why I tend to not have as many harvest videos. The days are getting shorter, and I just want to get done, not mess around with getting off, setting up the camera, filming, then stopping again to get the camera and either set up another angle or get back to work.

    Looks like your planter is doing a nice job in notill. Correct me if I’m wrong but White planters are positive air at the meter instead of vacuum correct? Is one better than the other? We had a White I think it was a 6806 when I was growing up to plant soybeans. It was set to 10” rows. It did a nice job but was high maintenance.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Positive air pressure is better in my opinion. When Harry Deckler first came up with the idea for these air meters, he used his wife's vacuum cleaner to hold seeds to a homemade seed plate. The drop in pressure caused condensation, which made the seeds want to stick to the plate. That's when he switched things around and went with positive air pressure. I've never run a vacuum planter, but from I understand you need to put talc in the seed to help keep seeds from sticking due to that condensation.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That auger might be getting to the end of it's life. It started out on the first 5100 series planter we had back around 1980, and went to our next 5100 about 10 years later. I was going to get a new one for this planter, but the guy I sold my 5100 to didn't want the auger, so I figured might as well use it. It's amazing it has lasted this long with the amount of fertilizer that has gone through it.

    I don't know if you have ever done a in depth video of a white planter, but the small farmers need to know that for conventional planting corn, any other planter is a waste and they are being hosed by gimmick upgrades. White air meters are the best oe non electric unit planter units ever produced.

    M&W seed? Is that anything like the products Elmo Minor manufactured at his M&W Gear Co. who was famous for better piston and sleeves, turbocharging? If so your corn should be knee-high by June 4th. Thank you for the great memories. You need Bob Hope's "Thanks for the Memories" as your theme song.

      Elmo and the W in M&W Gear got started by making extra gear to make the F-20, F-30 IH tractors have a road gear. He was good at seeing a need, coming up a product, and selling it. I went to college with his son.

    Just love watching the older equipment still going strong. Not a fan of the new stuff that's out, too much electronics that fail quite often. Awesome video as always. Cheers :)

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're all supposed to be 80,000 kernel bags, although I'm sure there is a slight variation in that. A 35 pound bag should run out about the same time as a 50 pound bag, it's just a difference in seed size.
