Basic Kit, advanced skill.
The idea behind a basic survival kit is to have the minimum equipment on you that will ensure your effectiveness in the wild. It needs to be small, and comfortable enough to always wear, at all times. When you cannot return to your camp, or get separated from your gear, the basic kit will be with you.
In such situations you need to minimally stay dry (or get dry), maintain your core temperature, hydrate, and navigate. With greater skill, you will be able to do far more.
